Reviews & Ratings for Pentax K2000 Digital SLR with18-55mm + 50-200mm Lens Kit I started out in the DSLR field with a Pentax ist DS due to the great reviews from other users. I was looking to upgrade this year to a newer model and read many great things regarding the K2000 (K-m overseas). Not only did the price attract me, the ease of use was a determining factor. The K2000 is wonderful for those just joining the DSLR field, yet it offers much variety to those on an intermediate level. I'm learning how to use the various manual settings to produce beautiful high quality photos. However, if you're just starting out, the auto-pic option helps you achieve fantastic shots. I purchased the package that contain both the 18-55 mm lens as well as the 50-200 mm. While the lens mounts on the lenses themselves are plastic, they are built with sturdy quality that makes this feature obsolete. Pentax is often not held to the same standards as Nikon or Canon, but I have taken some awesome photos that could easily compete with other models. In addition to this, Pentax DSLRs allow compatilbility with older lenses-something Nikon and Canon cannot claim to do. Overall I feel that the K2000 is a great buy. With great shooting options, image stabilization, and great variety in lens choices, anyone looking to join the DSLR world would be happy with this purchase.
