Reviews & Ratings for iMac 24"/2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB RAM/320GB/SuperDrive/HD2600 Pro The product I ordered is just as the manufacturer and dealer promised, with one exception: Someone included a drop-in disc with iLife '09, even though this is a last-gen iMac pre-loaded with iLife '08, so kudos to whoever was responsible for that upgrade disc - Apple or PC Connection.
I can't complain about the free shipping and no taxes, that easily saved me a couple of hundred dollars, seeing as how the People's Republic of California has jacked my tax rate another percent in the wrong direction.
Packaging of the product was the original manufacturer's packaging, and as is to be expected, it's the standard Apple packaging: super pretty.
One thing about shipping that I can say I wasn't too satisfied with: the exterior box that the whole thing was packaged in wasn't marked as "FRAGILE" or anything that would indicate to the freight company that its contents were to be handled with care. The parcel carriers and the receiving department at my company were slamming the box around as if it were a package full of styrofoam and nothing else. This could have had a nasty, nasty outcome.

And Apple is still a leader on Desktop computer. With a price cheaper than than the original Mac classic, this 24" 2 gb ram computer is a steal.

The mouse is garbage, replaced it with a Logitec wireless USB within 15 minutes of use. Instantly recognized it, all functions worked. The rest is of the highest build quality. This is my first Mac so I am still exploring. Boots fast. Unit is very quiet, can' tell the difference between sleep mode and off until you shake the mouse. Another pleasant surprise was the inclusion of an iLife 09 install disk, which is just another reason to buy this over the new model. Not a fan of Hitachi hard drives, I guess I will see how well it does. Had an issue with my order on a Friday afternnoon. MacConnection was able to fix the order and still have it shipped by the end of the day.

Long story short, once the Dell customer service person told me to turn off Windows updates for a few weeks while some "kinks were worked out", I knew it was time to bail on Vista and MSFT forever. In Dec 08 I bought this unit. Beyond the obvious beauty of this machine, the bottom line is it works and works great. I've installed Office for Mac without issue and can work on Word, Excel, PPT docs without problem. Setup was a breeze. I've connected it to my Tivo easily and can't help but wonder why I waited so long to get a Mac. Even though this cost a bit more, I'll make up for it in no time factoring in the time I'll save in calls to customer service (not to mention the frustration) with a PC. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect.

For my use the faster performance is not all that noticeable, but the extra screen space is great. The only downside is that I think the screen sits too high, the stand is not adjustable. I am ambivalent about the glossy screen, I don't think that it adds anything useful and it can be annoying under certain lighting conditions. The best part is how easy it is to upgrade to a new Mac vs a new PC. Are they ever going to get the message?

I sold my 20" to my daughter and bought the 24" .. it compliments my Mac Book Pro ... I do have a Windows machine also but nowdays it gets little use. The iMacs just plain 'WORK' .. ease of use .. the small footprint .. I could go on and on .. but won't. Suffice to say that if you are leaning towards a Mac .. do it! You won't regret. The keyboard I mention as a 'con' simply doesn't work well for my finger size or something .. but a simple search and I have a new wireless keyboard and mouse ordered.
