Pros: fun, keeps track of what you've done, can do a quick "body test" without the game disc, balance games are fun & help with your balance Cons: not great options for working out with friends, keeps track of what you've done, overweight people are not motivated by pudgy mii
Reviews & Ratings for Wii Fit with Balance Board The Wii Fit is GREAT for working on your balance. You can see how you're balanced (or not) in real time and make adjustments as you are playing, so that you are able to see and feel the difference. The balance games are the best feature, IMHO. Good aerobics, too, that really get your heart rate up. Yoga exercises are good ones, but you really need visual feedback rather than just having it "judge" by your balance on the board and position of the remote. Strength exercises are similar in that they are good in themselves but generally not judged well just via the balance board and remote.
One great boredom-fighting feature for TV lovers: you can set up a Wii long-distance run and switch to a movie or TV show. The Wii remote uses sound and vibration cues to keep you on track for your run while you watch TV. Guilt-free TV watching!
A drawback is the awkwardness of sharing the Wii Fit, since exercising with a buddy is one way people can get motivated to do it. You can take turns, which involves lots of clicking to get back and have someone else log in, or you can both use the guest account, but that means your data is not saved and your favorite games may not be available. That being said, they do make a couple of the games available for 2 people, like a 2-person run.
Another drawback is having pudgy Mii's for people deemed overweight. It does not have a motivating effect on the people I've seen (like myself) who fall into that category but seems to discourage playing.
I'm not getting rid of mine any time soon, though, and the more I write about here the more I want to go back and set that up and PLAY....

Reviews & Ratings for Wii Fit with Balance Board Wii fit is an unbelievable workout. Great to roll out of bed and concentrate on what you are doing with no distractions. Aerobics are fabulous, and the strength training is rigorous. PC Connection service is awesome too. Prompt.

Reviews & Ratings for Wii Fit with Balance Board Wiifit is a fun game and will get your heartrate up a bit. I work out regularly and some of the balancing activities are very challenging, but the aerobic section isn't as challenging as I would like. It is fun earning points to unlock more activities and games. Overall it was a good purchase and I will play around with it. I like the weight/bmi tracking calendar and will probably use this the most for tracking my weight loss.
