Before I worried that I would not be able to use a MAC because I was a devoted PC user, now I regret that I didn't switch it to Apple earlier. Glad that this new gizmo is really easy to use ... Sure I am still learning.. but such a charm. More impressed with the set up including my Time Capsule and Airport Express connections that I used with my previous PC!!

The computer was OK, speed-wise, when I got it. It is much better with 4Gig of RAM. As for ease of use, switching from XP and Ubuntu to Mac, I would say Mac is more intuitive and user-friendly. I've used MS operating systems since DOS and gave up in disgust. Mr. Gates and his friends got way too much of my money and time. First, however, I tried to change to Apple. I was one of the unfortunate ones who bought a Power Book--and could not help feeling badly used by Apple. Whether the switch back to the Jobs family fortunes is a good one -- only time will tell. Although Apple makes very elegantly designed products, they are lovely to look at but may break.

Currently running Mac OS X Leopard + Windows XP & Ubuntu 8.10 (under Vmware Fusion 2.0) simultaneously with no perceptible slowdown on any of them. Sound quality and mic sensitivity are great, as is built-in camera - perfect for Skype/Oovoo. Rugged, yet thin & lightweight. Keyboard backlight is amazingly useful, and new trackpad makes all other trackpads feel like 80-grit sandpaper (it works great, and the multi-touch capability gives you both left & right mouseclicks without keyboard combos!) No hotspots, like other laptops - heat seems to spread better throughout the unibody chassis.
Some nits: glossy LCD is extremely reflective, and colors/blacks/whites only look great from an optimal viewing angle. Battery life is good, but I was hoping for 5+ hours - seems like closer to 3.5 hours doing regular web + email sorts of things. Aluminum chassis feels 'cold' when sitting it on your legs when taking a dump. Apples ships this model w/ 2 x 1GB sticks of DDR3, meaning that you have to buy 2 x 2GB sticks of DDR3 to upgrade from 2->4 GB. Lame.
