I have to keep a safe and easily transportable backup of everything I create. This drive does that for me very well. I recently upgraded to the 1TB Fantom from the 500GB model I bought only a year ago. Since I work on everything from video to desktop publishing to web design, my archive work files quickly grows. This is the second 1TB Fantom drive I have bought within the past 6 months. It is reliable, dependable, and durable. I once was a die-hard Seagate user, but had one die on me a year ago (why I switched to Fantom), now there is no other drive I would use. Steer clear of Western Digital drives too. Had one fry my Firewire ports on my Mac Pro's logic board (luckily covered under AppleCare). Will NEVER buy one of those again, either.
