It is very lightweight and is an incredible lnotebook for me and college life. I put a test progam on the unit and that particular key failed. The button actually looked ok and felt fine but did not work. I reloaded the factory default drivers and the image but it still did not work. I received an advanced replacement within a few days which was great but they billed me again and did not tell me. The new one is working fine. I have three acer notebooks in the house and they are the best bang for the buck. I have never had problems with them. I got the 6 cell battery...that was the way to go.

I found this to be the one with the most ram, hard drive & speed. I chose the 6 cell battery option and I am glad I did.It gives me about 5.6 houra of use which is great. It comes with a trial version of microsoft office which I have previously purchased and it was easy to convert to permanant software. I wanted to use the Windows XP OS to be compatible with my work PC. With 1 ram of memory it is working very well. I find the keyboard very easy to use with my size 10.5 fingers. I can plug in my home printer and monitor along with the other USB ports. It is all of what I was looking for at the best price.

Everything is running great, have an external USB powered disc drive that has no problems when connected. Keypad is comfortable and easy to use also. Just wish the mousepad/click buttons were arranged differently, they work fine as is, but a different configuration might be better. But that is the only complaint about the computer. Its small, its light weight, will be a great travel computer.

No CD/DVD drive is a little inconveniant, but one you have installed the software you need how often do you really need a built in CD/DVD drive. You can copy movies to USB drives and it is great when travling on airplanes. Built-in WiFi a huge plus.

After some research I decided to buy this. It is great, fast, easy to use, great picture resolution, easy to use and light to carry. Used it while traveling and enjoyed watching videos. The computer is super-fast and light weight. Although I am not fond of shiny screens, this one has great resolution. I am even running Adobe Dreamweaver which means I can update websites from my favorite coffee shop. I just love it. My only 'con' is the left/right buttons on the mouse pad. They feel a bit hard.

The unit was promptly shipped and arrived as advertised from the estimates provided on the website. This unit weighs 2+ pounds (a large pizza hut supreme weighs more). The keyboard has good response and the 6 cell battery is a must (5 plus hours of use after the first initial charge).
Forget about buying a Franklin planner every year. This unit is about the same size and weight of the franky planny. For the price, performance and weight, a very good deal, especially if you want to frequent a Netcafe' and loiter awhile not tethered to one of the few open electrical outlet wall-sockets. I would suggest purchasing a Themaltake IXoft heat dissipation pad (unit can run hot) and an external DVD drive to load software. A portable external mouse would be a good addition as well.
I also caution not to show your netbook’s features to your significant other. You won't have the pleasure of using your netbook for awhile, when this occurs. Best bet, purchase this unit when offered as a BOGO!

I had resisted buying one untill a sales rep that sells snowboards came into our shop with an Acer Aspire One. That was it I had to have one!!! This model has larger hard drive and longer duration battery than the Wal-mart model. For the extra $50, this is the best value. It's a little slow compared to a workstation. Fingerprints show pretty badly on the blue case, but it's my team color! Wi-Fi works well. I opted to buy a USB notebook mouse, but I use the touch pad also. 14Nov2008

With Windows XP and the small form factor, the Acer Aspire One with a 160GB drive , really quick, stable wireless B/G connectivity, a 6-cell battery that goes and goes (4-5hours), a great screen and keyboard, fabulous trackpad with configurable tapping and scrolling, this netbook ROCKS! I've watched on-demand movies from NetFlix on it with no lags, stuttering or rough patches - betrween the wireless nic and the graphic processor you get a picture as clear and stable as you get with a portable DVD player. It runs cool, makes no noise when surfing or watching video although it can be heard while installing software or doing other intensive processing which brings on a fan for cooling but other than when I was getting it setup, I've hardly ever heard it. Flawless performance way above what one would expect is provided by this very reasonably priced netbook. I could not be happier.
