Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH The product is very good and my first use solved my problem of carryind a briefcase with a standard (heavy) lapatop. This one is light and fairly easy to use. My only disappointment is the dvd drive capability. I purchased a USB dvd drive to load software and play dvds through the laptop into an InFocus machine. I found out that the laptop did not have a dv decoder of something like that for Windows media player. The software directed you to the internet where you have to purchase a Sonic dv decoder. The Sonic site is very user unfriendly and I wound up purchasing the dv decoder and the Sonic dvd player before I could make the dvd play. Other than that, I would highly recommend the machine.

Pros: compact and portable Cons: shift button for the right hand is out of place.
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I recently purchased this for my son for it's compactness and portability. The quick link to the internet is great, although it didn't work with wifi, you had to be connected to an LAN for it to work. Battery life is about 1.5 hours tops, but I'm always find a power source. The keys are little small, and the most frustrating part is the shift button which isn't in its usual position on a keyboard, it's further right of the keyboard.
Overall for the price and power it's adaquate for my son, and for me.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH Lenovo body has a very sturdy feel not found in other notebooks. The "S10E" has a little less memory than the "S10", a smaller hard drive and no bluetooth, but I added memory (2G) and bluetooth (micro USB) for less than 30.00, and the 80 gig hard drive is more than enough for my needs. Loaded up all of the programs I use in the office and it runs great.
Videos/Movies including NetFlix, Slingbox and Hulu worked great over the WIFI, and even HD TV with a USB adapter ran flawlessly and the sound via headphones is great, although the speakers don't give much volume.
The keyboard was not a problem to use. The 10.1 inch screen is exceptional. The VGA adapter works great with my projector.
The video camera/microphone provided very good Skype videoconferencing with no stutters or delays.
All and all a lot of computer in a notebook package which, at a little over 2 lbs, is hard to beat for use on the go, especially considering the price..

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH OK.. some folks out there are picking nits. For under $300 you will not find a better system. I've purchased 4 of these over the past month and have not had one negative comments from my group. They run the range: testers (Windows 7), casual users (Word, net apps), and developers (web development & Eclipse IDE).
If you want a highly portable and responsive netbook, you won't be disappointed. After bumping these units up to 1.5-2.0 GB they perform impressively. If you really need more battery time, consider the 6 cell; but if you're using it at a power source or don't anticipate the need for more than 2 1/2 hours of battery time, you'll be fine.
The Lenovo build quality is still up to IBM standards & *Connection service is (as always) top of the line.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH Since I got it, I've tended to use this little machine instead of my aging desktop, for web access, email, and misc light work. It's convenient and reasonably snappy with additional 2GB RAM and a USB mouse (the touchpad is OK, but I mouse a lot faster). I dual-boot, usually into Ubuntu (installed from a USB Flash Drive), which works great on th S10. I found it fairly easy to adjust to the keyboard size and layout, but do wish the Fn and left Ctrl keys were reversed or reversible. The screen isn't huge, but it's quite usable, and obviously that's the trade-off for such a small, portable, and inexpensive machine. No CD/DVD drive -- but that's not something I use everyday; no bluetooth; does have 2 card slots and VGA for external monitor.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH If you don't need bluetooth, find 80 GB HD big enough, and a 3-cell battery (~150 minute battery life) to be adequate, I'd highly recommend this laptop.
It's the easiest laptop to upgrade. The User guild even shows you how to upgrade memory and hard drive.
Need to upgrade RAM by installing a 2GB stick (around $20). Not a negative since all the netbooks out there need similar upgrades to get to 2 GB (or 2.5GB in the case of the S10e using Windows 7 beta).
Biggest negative is the keyboard --- key layout is awful, but, I adapted to the point, I'm not grumbling. The HP Mini has the best netbook keyboard, but, is priced $150 more. The MSI wind has slightly bigger keys and the layout is a bit nicer.
Nice having an Express Card slot. I installed a eSata controller in mine (although it can be debated whihter or not a netbook class computer would see a performance boost using eSata vs. USB).
Second gripe: I really wish a 6-cell battery option for say $50 more was offered.
If you upgrade to 6-cell battery, upgrade the hard drive to 160+ GB, you might as well buy the MSI Wind U100 for $430 instead. But, otherwise, this is the best deal out there.
I don't regret not buying the MSI Wind.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH Outstanding netbook. Value for the money is incredible. Lenovo is perhaps the best notebook manufacturer in the world, and $299 for this is unbeatable.
The perfect travel laptop for those who travel.
The built in upgrade ability is great! Acers netbook you have to practically disassemble to upgrade RAM. This is meant to upgrade RAM and HDD in 5 mins. Excellent engineering!
Fast with XP, portable, and upgradable. Had 1st gen EEE netbook and this 2nd gen product is awesome. I'll run Win 7 in the not too distant future on it.

Pros: it's great Cons: nothing
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH This is one of the most robust and performant computer I have ever had. Since I dislike Windows, I installed immediately Linux Mint on it (which is an Ubuntu-based Linux), and it worked perfectly: sound, video, wireless, drives etc. Absolutely no flaw. The screen is great, has a good resolution.
I even used it today for a presentation. It connected perfectly with the projector.
It's a jewel. I love it.

Pros: small size, crystal clear screen, light weight Cons: smallish keys - backspace & delete easy to miss
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I really like this netbook. Lightweight and easy to use, it does everything I need for business or pleasure trips. I've been lugging around a "desktop replacement" laptop, but the size was never convenient to use it on the spur of the moment. This one is easy to pop in a briefcase or tote bag and head out on a moment's notice. I can take it places I'd never take the bigger laptop - like doctors' waiting rooms. The 10.1" screen is a good size and gives a more complete view than the smaller screens in competitive models. I would recommend getting the model with the 160 GB hard drive, though, if you want to put on major software like MSOffice or Adobe Photoshop.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH Pros: Light weight, quality construction, price. Performance is very good with respect to what you can expect out of this low-voltage chip.
Cons: Extremely poor placement of keys in the lower right-hand corner of the keyboard. The shift key is very small and offset, and as a result, touch-typing is difficult.
This is especially surprising from a company like Lenovo, which in the "X" series has the best keyboard around.
There are many competitors, and all within the same price range. The HP Mini was engineered significantly better than this disappointing netbook.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH You can get bigger and faster laptops that cost hundreds more but if you need a handy machine to tote around easily for email, browsing and running Office, this is the smartest way to go. The 10.1" screen bridges the gap between other "netbooks" (which I find too small for even my normal sized fingers) and the bigger 12" plus screens of the "mini" laptops. I have been an IBM and Lenovo user for years and won't even consider another machine for usability, design and dependability.
