Nintendo DS Lite Onyx
The Nintendo DS Lite is a high-powered handheld video game system in a sleek folding design, loaded with features for a unique gaming experience. The color screens are now even brighter and the lower touch screen provides a totally new way of playing and controlling games. Use the built-in wireless mode to share games, chat or even play multiplayer games on-line via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Play impressive 3-D rendered Nintendo DS games and play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in single player mode. It's less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20 percent lighter. Its two bright screens can be adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power. The microphone sits in the center of the unit, and the LED lights are clearly visible whether the unit is open or closed. The stylus is 1 centimeter longer and 1 millimeter thicker than the stylus of the original, and slides into a side storage slot. The Start and Select buttons were repositioned for easier access. A removable cover keeps the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot clear from dust and debris when it’s not in use.

Reviews & Ratings for Nintendo DS Lite Onyx When it comes to handheld gaming, Nintendo has the standard. The DS controls are almost intuitive. The variety of available games is without equal, especially when one considers that the system is backward compatible with the previous genration GBA (gameboy advanced) games. The battery life is very long. It's very well constructed. The educational or edutainment games are a terrific addition.

Reviews & Ratings for Nintendo DS Lite Onyx As far as handhelds go, I would not put my money elsewhere. I have found many hours utilizing the DS in my life, whether passing 10 minutes of time or playing for an hour in the morning on my hourly commute to work on the train. I find the games to be simple, relaxing and often times enjoying. I am 24 and a software engineer in Cambridge MA. I believe the DS has a large selection of games, making it a versatile handheld to be enjoyed by not only young children but also by adults and older. My fiancee thoroughly enjoys various brain games and quizes as does her mother! The simplicity behind the screen allows for everyone to find something to enjoy if even only for a short period of time.
the construction is solid, and does not feel flimsy. After many hours the buttons all react as expected and little or no wear down on the text on the buttons nor their performance. the fold down design offers superb protection for the screen when not being played. After two years, there is some show of wear on the touch screen where the stylus is used, but by planning ahead and utilizing a screen protector, this wear can be almost entirely negated.
the hardware is diverse and allows not only for single player games, but multiplayer over a local connection to another ds, or over the internet through a wireless connection. The wireless connection is configured in game, which I wish was a feature you could set up without a game that requires or uses an internet connection. There is a web browser available for this model (the newest DS model supposedly has one built in), but it not built in, which is also a shame.
In the end, the DS is a great handheld for children and adults alike. If you enjoy any game that can be played on the SNES, then you will enjoy what is available for the DS and then some. It will not wow you with graphics, but will maybe pleasantly surprise you with the variety of games at its disposal.
