iPod Shuffle 4GB Black (March 09) 3rd Generation

The world’s smallest music player also happens to be the world’s first talking one. Two things that make the iPod shuffle one amazing device. The new iPod shuffle is jaw-droppingly small. It’s half the size of the previous generation. To create the world’s smallest music player, Apple shifted the controls from iPod shuffle to the earbud cord. This allowed Apple to make the new iPod shuffle dramatically smaller, but not just for dramatically smaller’s sake. It’s also easier to use, with the controls located where you can access them quickly. Yet there’s room for so much more. With 4GB of storage, it now holds up to 1,000 songs, and lets you enjoy multiple playlists, too. There was a time when limited storage meant you had to leave a lot of your songs on the sync-room floor. But now that iPod shuffle has 4GB of storage, you have plenty of room to store hours and hours of music up to 1,000 songs. With room for multiple playlists, too. On top of the small size, the new iPod shuffle talks to you! . Say you’re listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist. With the press of a button, VoiceOver tells you as the music dips down. It even announces the names of your playlists. And when your battery needs charging, VoiceOver tells you that, too. Musically speaking, the new iPod shuffle is brilliant, thanks to VoiceOver. On top of everything, the new iPod shuffle lives up to its name. The shuffle switch has three positions. Flip it to the left, and your music shuffles for a whatever happens, happens flow. Flip it to the middle, and your songs play in order. Or flip to the right to turn it off.

Reviews & Ratings for iPod Shuffle 4GB Black (March 09) 3rd Generation
For everyday use, the new iPod is great - sleek and easy to use.
However, DO NOT EXERCISE WITH IT. The first time I took it to the gym, the headphones malfunctioned, sending the volume way up and then way down again, and now I cannot hear anything unless I plug in another set of similar headphones. The controls on the headphones are not moisture resistant, and the slightest sweat will cause them to malfunction. This is a well-documented problem on the apple discussion boards, and until it is fixed I would stay away from the shuffle. Which is a shame.
