Pros: great light weight machine for 80% of us. Cons: definitely not a gaming machine.
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH This is the perfect tool for anyone who likes to travel. Simple, light weight, sturdy and full of lots of great features.
First, when you buy it definitely upgrade the memory. It works fine without it, but it will make the experience much better.
For 80% of people, all we need is a browser, a photo gallery tool and a multimedia tool (music, movies, etc.) You can have it all with this and not pay an incredible amount of money.

Pros: top shelf system 80 gig hard drive wireless, built in camera light weight fast startup Cons: shift key on right is a little awkward.
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH When a co-worker came to me explaining that he purchased a new "net-book" for under $300 I expected it to be a shell with no OS. What he let me play with for an hour became "I'll order one right now!" This has built in wireless, two USB slots, a built in camera, an 80gig hard drive, and Windows XP. It's under three pounds and an extra gig of RAM?...a miniscule $13 bucks! The keyboard acts like full size and I haven't been stunted in writings because of the size. What gives with this machine? It has the capabilities of running Microsoft Office 2007 PRO with ease and has a battery life on a 3-cell better than my 6-cell laptop. It's a Christmas gift for all in my family in 2009

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I Bought this netbook because I love Tech toys. But my excuse was to have an ultra portable that i could take back and forth to work to do excel spreadsheets on. I am very pleased, I did install a 1gig stick of ram after my purchase. The 3 cell battery life is fine. I would purchase another without hesitation. You can't beat the price. I received my unit in two days even with the free shipping!

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I've searched for a portable laptop to take with me on trips. Something that can do what I need to do (Internet Surfing). I've have two other standard laptops, but didn't want to them being damaged. This is a great Netbook that can. It's not as tiny as the others and though you have to get used to the keyboard and no CD drive, but you can always by an external drive and attached to one of the USB ports. Quick start up, doesn't hang like my regular laptops (probably because it's not loaded with a lot of stuff).

Pros: size, nice display, windows xp pre-installed, intel chip set, nice hard drive and speed for the price!, small convenient battery, small convenient power supply Cons: unorthodox resolution
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH A long time ago in the internet far away, I came across the ad for PC Connection sporting a deal on one of these little laptops. Now, I thought about buying one of these a few months earlier, but alas, all I could find were the ones with VIA chip sets and Linux distributions. Imagine my surprise when I found one of these little guys with an Intel chip set and Windows XP pre-installed. It totally made it worth it. All in all it is a pretty nice system. It runs quick and if you are doing basic stuff you are good to go, so none of you hardcore 133t gamers :D
My only grip was the unorthodox resolution. Some programs my not install and some do not automatically resize to fit the screen. I couldn't install Cisco VPN because of the resolution, why I couldn't install that is beyond me. So be wary, Some (even business) applications may not install!
I have decided to set this little bugger up on my Digital Piano and use it as a MIDI controller and Digital sheet music screen :D

Pros: portability, capability Cons: keyboard a challenge
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH The Lenovo IdeaPad S10e offers a great, easily portable computing alternative for the typical user. It packs impressive power into an envelope not much larger than a few stacked self-help books, with a comparable weight too. The screen offers good clarity, which is important because of its netbook size. Any complaints about its physical package would need to be directed toward its keyboard, which is not totally intuitive and sometimes does not accommodate large hands well. Our only other concern is trying to create recovery disks for the system because they are not available directly from Lenovo and the on-board software does not support their creation. On the other hand, upgrades are within the grasp of almost any user, since the cavity holding the HDD and the RAM chips is easily accessed and worked within. Definitely spend the few bucks necessary to expand the RAM when buying the IdeaPad because it improves the Windows XP considerably.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH Sold my d*ll mini to buy this...Good choice. Does what's it supposed to(Email, Browsing, Hulu, Netflix etc.) Perfect for people on the go. Have ORB running on my home pc and its great for accessing media and files anywhere. No more lugging around a heavy laptop. Would have been nice to have a 6 cell battery. But what do you expect considering the price. The built in 1.3 megapixel camera worked great during video chat. Sound quality and volume level is better that my d*ll mini.

Pros: size, weight, battery life, display, actual hard drive (not flash storage) Cons: that dang right shift key
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I'm very pleased overall with this PC. I took it on a trip as my only laptop and, while a little nervous at first, it was all that I needed. Meets all my needs for basic net activities such as e-mail, web browsing, etc. Amazingly simple to pack!
The memory upgrade was ultra easy and very straight forward. I would strongly recommend it.
Only negative is, as mentioned in other reviews, the positioning of the right shift key. I am slowly adjusting to it, but this was a serious oversight by someone in Lenovo engineering. Not enough to condemn it by any means, but I would have given it a 'fantastic' rating rather than just a 'great' rating!
Seriously though, this is a great little laptop and comes with my full recommendation.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I had been keeping an eye on netbooks because of my frequent use of my computer for study notes and surfing away from my desk. I jumped at this for the price and screen size. It is very solid, and quickly connected to my wireless network. Speed of start up is a plus. Runs all of my applications.

Pros: sleek, lightweight, inexpensive, ram and hd upgradable, bluetooth installable, express card slot (if you need it) Cons: lacks stock memory, small hard drive, tiny battery, no bluetooth, small shift key, only 2 usb ports
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH This netbook was the best value I could find for what I needed. $299 got me a compact, effective tool to stay connected at work and home.
Compared to other netbooks, the Lenovo S10e lacks a few features. It comes with 512MB RAM, though can still have 2GB stick. The battery is lacking, at 3 cells--this gets me 1.5-2.25 hours on low power setting. What I will say is this--what it lacks in power, it makes up for in size and weight. The small battery makes for a sleek and lightweight unit. I am rarely anywhere where I can't plug in and run off AC power (with battery out, of course) and chances are if I am not where I have power, I don't have time to use this computer!
The hard drive at 80gb is adequate for the necessities if it does not include 5000 albums and 800 movies. This however is an easy upgrade.
I upgraded my RAM to 2GB for $25 and purchased a 120GB 7200rpm Seagate SATA drive for $45. I now have a pretty speedy unit that functions as well as my last laptop.
I would recommend this unit for someone that is concerned with price, size and weight--who wants an inexpensive, sleek and lightweight unit. This unit is perfect for my needs.
I will say that the day it was delivered I found out that I could pay $374 and reserve and Asus 1000HE with a 1.66 GHz Atom, 160 GB 5400rpm drive, bluetooth AND a 9.5 hour battery. But, no one has indicated when this will actually be released.
I do enjoy the dimensions of this netbook. very sleek and very lightweight. The lesser options are easily upgradable.
Does not include recovery discs, but a recovery partition. If you plan to upgrade HD, request discs from Lenovo. or do what I did and put the original HD in external USB enclosure, install the new HD, boot from original in USB and run recovery... the fluke: it recovered my newly installed disc to the original state of the original disc. weird.

Pros: build quality, display/video output, application performance Cons: none for the price
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH Every aspect of this "netbook" has been impressive. Setup was quick and easy, and Lenovo did not include alot of useless "trialware" that gets in the way. It does come with a trial version of Office 2007 and the typical Symantec apps of course.
The unit feels solid as a rock - the screen hinge and case are built like a Thinkpad with no flex or cheap feel. The display is very bright and clear (glossy finish).
It drives a 19" monitor at 1280 x 1024 32 bit. Video looks outstanding. Safari 4.0 Beta works like a dream on this lttle powerhouse.
Contrary to all you may read in the specs, if you puchase a 2 gb chip, it will ignore the soldered 512 mb chip and will recognize 2GB in Windows. I bought PC Connection item #7302079 Axiom 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM and was running at 2 gb in 5 minutes...
I'm currently running every application I run on my desktop at home - including Adobe CS3 Design Premium, Office, iTunes, Nero, Google Earth and so on - no complaints.
The trackpad takes a bit of practice but works fine - though I connect a mouse most of the time. The keyboard is small but very usable.
Lastly, the Splashtop OS does indeed boot VERY quickly (like 11 seconds) - though the apps require a bit of getting used to.
Overall - I couldn't be happier with this purchase - PC Connection's price was excellent, and their service and support are unmatched in the business in my opinion.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I've owned the S10e for a few weeks now and I am extremely impressed with its quality, speed and stability. I'm a geek, without question, so I made a few additions which included an 80 Gb Intel SSD X25-M (yes, the drive is more expensive than the computer) and an additional 1 GB memory. The S10e launched applications in about half the time as the standard drive (for example, Outlook and Word 2007 opens in 2 seconds). Without the spinning platters, the SSD drive adds to battery life as well. I can get a maximum of 3h34m and with the six cell I get 6h39m. The only draw back to the S10e is the keyboard layout. Both HP and Acer have a better keyboard. You'll find yourself stepping on keys and doing a lot of backspacing. I'm sure after time you can get use to it but it's a difficult transition from a full keyboard. I've used the HP a few times and found the keyboard to be the best of all the Netbooks. Nevertheless, the S10 is by far the easiest to upgrade and the best looking of the Netbook lot! If you can get use to the keyboard you'll love the S10e! I was lucky to purchase the S10e for $289.00 from PCConnection, which is by far the best price I have ever seen! The standard shipping from Ohio to California took only three days!

Cons: little memory - had to add more
Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I have only had this netbook for a couple of weeks now, but for my purposes, it has been very useful.
I normally use it on the bus ride to and from work and the smaller size is just right for the sometimes cramped space I have available. The bus has wifi so that is a plus, but I also save some web pages to look at offline just in case the signal is lost. It really makes the ride seem a whole lot shorter.
Many people at work stop by my desk and ask about my "toy" computer and several have expressed an interest in getting one after I tell them about it.

Reviews & Ratings for Lenovo IdeaPad S10e Atom N270 1.6GHz/512MB/80GB/bg/WC/3-Cell/10.1" WSVGA/XPH I am an IT professor, and I see all sorts of "THE GREATEST THING EVER" products. However this netbook may come pretty close. Its super small, super light, and performance has been ...Well ..."super".
