I think it will be ideal for keeping up with the internet and emails while traveling.

I repartiioned the hard drive into C:, D: and E: logical drives. This allows drive E: to be the data partition is not jeopardized if the C: partition takes a dump.
I replaced the 1GB DRAM with a 2GB DRAM which really helped when opening more than one application.
The claimed battery life (9+ hours) is marketing hype, but I've seen 5-6 hours, even with SKYPE running in Video mode. The battery is not yet fully "seasoned" so it should improve in the future.
I do wish that it had a PCMCIA or EXPRESS card slot and Win XP Pro, but for $390 it's hard to beat this little beauty.
Finally, it's build like a tank.
I'm very satisfied so far..!

This one has good battery back up, this means you can carry it out and work on it. Speed: This laptop is very fast, this is built in such a way that, we can carry n number of applications at the same time. Till now it din’t gave me any problems, and I think it will not.

Of course it doesn't do everything a laptop does but checking emails and going on the Internet can be done quite easily with this.
The ony con is that the speakers are tinny if you are listening to usic but then again tha isn't what I bought it for

This little 8.9" screen is terrific for those flights in economy or business. I use a wireless data connection thru T-Mobile, and my connections with this computer are always immediate and very fast. I have suggested this computer to many of my working partners due to their travel and need for space. It can easily fit in a woman's purse or a man's suitcase for carry-on. Just perfect .... I don't use a dvd player so no concern there. Thank You Asus

I can't yet find anything to complain about except that the shiny plastic is prone to fingerprints everywhere. It does take a little while to get used to the keyboard. Well worth the money. This is a great netbook!
