Also when he computer is in standby mode (no video signal- when you computer is turn off) it makes a soft beep every 5 minutes. Picture quality is so-so, not the best for computer or photography work.

I had one come with a little cosmetic damage. about an inch of the plastic strip on the bottom was broken. however, i called pc connection and they gave me a $20 discount... so im a satisfied customer.

The convenience of the one button toggle on display modes makes the LCD very user friendly in both the mode changing and to the eyes. The response is also great. Picture quality is well within expectations. The only hiccup was the default color was default to 6500 x 6500 and was terrible for text. After changing it to one of the preset combination, it shows up nicely and a happy user ever since.

I initially connected it via the vga connector because I had read that it would not support 1920x1200 through the hdmi. The picture quality was excellent and of course, the picture is huge. I decided to give the hdmi a try using the included hdmi to dvi cable. I am running the Windows 7 Release Candidate and it immediately went into 1920x1200 and it was glorious. The digital signal was a step above the analog, which was already beautiful.
I am a software developer and I look at this monitor 8 hours a day as my primary monitor. The colors are great, it is bright, and once again, the screen is huge. I love this monitor. I have never before thought I had enough screen real estate, but now, Visual Studio fits great on a single monitor.
The price from PCConnection was fantastic; the best I had found for a 26" monitor at this resolution. This is a must buy if you are looking to upgrade your monitor.

Had to adjust a bit when setting it up, took about 5 minutes, but I've never yet used a monitor that didn't need to be adjusted out of the box. No dead pixels. I didn't bother to hook up the speakers so I don't know what they sound like. Didn't buy it for the speakers. It does have a slight buzzing sound as others have written about, but with music playing and general noise from the work environment, you don't notice it. I use this for designing graphics at work, not for gaming, so no input there. It's perfect for the design work I bought it for and I'm very pleased. The big screen is impressive and I'm now the coolest person in my office. No matter what anybody says, bigger is better. One thing that I did notice... The screen is large enough that sometimes there is a slight color differentiation towards the bottom. Certain colors at times look washed out because they are not in direct line of sight. No biggy for me.

No extra padding, not even any tape on the seams; which is why the bottom was blown out when it arrived. Luckily no damage to the monitor. The menu system it uses is a bit tough to figure out, with the buttons not labeled for easy use. The stand height is not adjustable (which makes it difficult to fit into desks with hutches).
Now the positives: this thing is HUGE! Crank every resolution slider as far right as it'll go, because buddy you just got a whole lot of screen. Slight shadowing when scrolling web pages quickly, but you notice NOTHING when playing games. Panoramic picture quality with sharp contrasts really opens up every game you'll play. I went from a 21" Sony CRT to this big dog and I haven't found a single drawback yet. Well, other than six inch margins on every web page. :)

I am using it with the HDMI connection.The image is much brighter and more washed out than my adjacent screen but it seems nearly impossible to adjust the brightness or contrast. The onscreen controls respond only sporatically. It has 3 power settings but buzzes noticeably at the 2 lower settings. While it will be fine for computer drafting, it would not be my first choice for other color graphics work.

There are two drawbacks. 1. There is a humming noise when the monitor is on. I have a TV next to it. The previous HP monitor never had no noise. The good news is, when the TV is on, I don't notice the noise. 2. The initial monitor stand took me some time to set up to the right angle I wanted. It reflects an inferior design.
Compare the the previous HP 22" model, this one is not as well designed nor to the same quality level. But I'm still happy to get a 26" for $279 in April 2009.
