Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard Retail
The Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update is recommended for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard versions 10.5, 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3, 10.5.4, and 10.5.5. It includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac.
The new look of Leopard showcases your favorite desktop image and puts new file Stacks at your fingertips for a stunning, clutter-free workspace. Leopard brings new power to your old friend, the sidebar. Now items are grouped into categories: places, devices, shared computers, and searches, just like the Source list in iTunes. So with a single click, you’re on your way to finding what you need. Just as you use Cover Flow to flip through album art in iTunes, now you can use it to flip through your files. Cover Flow displays each file as a large preview of its first page. And you can page through multipage documents or play movies.
Using Quick Look in Leopard, you can view the contents of a file without even opening it. Quick Look works with nearly every file on your system, including images, text files, PDFs, movies, Keynote presentations, and Microsoft Word and Excel files. Click the Quick Look icon or tap the Space bar to see a file in Quick Look. Then click the arrow icon to see the same file full screen, even video as it plays.
More than a mere backup, Time Machine makes an up-to-date copy of everything on your Mac: digital photos, music, movies, TV shows, and documents, so you can go back in time to recover anything. Time Machine keeps an up-to-date copy of everything on your Mac. That includes system files, applications, accounts, preferences, music, photos, movies, and documents. Time Machine not only keeps a spare copy of every file, it remembers how your system looked on any given day, so you can revisit your Mac as it appeared in the past.
Use Spaces to group your windows and banish clutter completely. Leopard gives you a Space for everything and puts everything in its Space. Create a Space for work. Create a Space for play. Organize each Space the way you want it just by dragging in windows. Keep all your work projects in one Space and that fun flick you made in iMovie in another.

Reviews & Ratings for Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard Retail I am currently reviewing Mac OS X Leopard which was shipped with my MacBook.
It has been 5 months since I the first time I owned a Mac with OS X in it. I've been using OS 8.6 and Vista for a while. After returning to Mac since 2003, I finally breathed in fresh air. Leopard feels like it was built well. Everything is solid and it doesn't require a whole lot of juice compared to Vista. It runs fast on my 2.0 Unibody MacBook. Normally, all my Vista machines will start slowing down by now, but this computer still runs as fast as day 1. One of the causing factors of making Leopard or OS X simple to use is the dock. It's simple and easy to use. You just have to click on an app on the dock and you can customize it. The dock is an extremely useful thing that makes Macs a Mac. Unfortunately, there are some cons too. Nothing can be perfect, but it is close to being perfect. Sometimes, the performance can be a little choppy and I have had to force shut down a few times. It's stable, but not quite becoming extremely stable. Sure, it's one of the most stable OS in the market, but it does happen once every so often. As the launch of Snow Leopard gets closer, I can feel the extremely close perfection of Snow Leopard. Apple chose the right path of making Snow Leopard more stable and this time, Apple will make the close to perfection successor of Leopard. In the mean time, Leopard is still an awesome operating system. It's still worth upgrading if you're running something older. Trust me, it is.
