After installing all the software it now gives me almost total capabilities. I found the wireless to be able to pick up my router from farther distance than my previous laptop. One of the cons is not having an optical drive which is understandable because of its small size. Loading up a multiple CD apllication onto an external disk does not always work since the program being install cannot find Disk 2. There are work around but not for the novice. This problem does not exist on a one Disk CD or DVD. I have purchased a USB exteranal CD/DVD player/burner at a reasonable cost to give me the full capabilities of a full size notebook. Since I do not basically use the mousepad the different layout from most laptops is not an issue, but could bother other users. I choice to go with Windows XP which I have on my other computers and feel the operating system is now pretty much stabilized So far 1GB is adequate for all my applications. It seems that the display resolution is fixed at 1024 X 576 but I need to validate this with HP. Several months of travel and useage will put this netbook to its full test.
