Reviews & Ratings for GV-D200 Digital8 Video Walkman VCR This Sony Video Walkman was purchased to transfer 8mm tapes to DVD. So far it has worked Great. There is a Firewire connection that allows control and recording from my Mac computer. A somewhat expensive product but worth it to transfer the priceless memories on 8mm tapes

Reviews & Ratings for GV-D200 Digital8 Video Walkman VCR I purchased this for Transferring 8mm, Hi-8, and Digital 8 Tapes to DVD. It works awesome! You can use with any system, Mac and Windows. I tested with both, and works well. I'm currently capturing with windows xp, windows movie maker. Capturing with firewire control into dv-avi and creating dvd with My DVD from Roxio. It is working out very nice. 1 Hour of dv-avi footage is about 14 GB or windows movie maker estimates it to be about 178 MB /minute. Just make sure you have enough hard drive space for high quality capture before you compress to MPEG 2 or another more compressed format. If possible hook to a monitor so you can view settings and different outputs rather than just in the computer from the firewire.
