Good:

- Of all the netbooks (incl Lenovo), this has the best keyboard. It has the biggest keys, best key layout and the best "feel."

- Well made; good quality construction.

- Really lightweight (much lighter than my Thinkpad x61).

Bad:

- Screen is 1024 x 600. This takes getting used to.

Bottom Line:

- For a netbook, it's the best one around. Make sure you get the 1035 or better. The 10" screen is much better than the 8.9" screen of the lesser series. Also, ensure that you get 1GB RAM.

Also, this is a NETBOOK, NOT a power workstation. It does all the office stuff (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access), minor photo editing, but it is not a powerful machine.

I would definitely recommend.

Reviews & Ratings for HP Mini 1035NR Netbook Atom N270 1.6GHz/1GB/60GB/bg/NIC/BT/WC/10.2" BV WSVGA/XPH
I purchased this "netbook" when I realized they were a new convenient alternative to big chunky laptops. My old laptop was an HP dv6000 and was light on its own but when I experienced the HP Mini 1000 it was obviously the right choice for me. I do light computing like the occasional business sign using MS Word and also heavy email and web use. Since I don't use processor intensive apps the Intel Atom was more than sufficient. The screen is small at 10.1" and you really get to noticing it while browsing the web. I'm currently running Windows 7 and it runs it like a champ but if you buy one it is well worth the investment to buy a fast SD card to use as a readyboost drive. Physically the laptop is built very well and has no twist or crackle when held by its corners and the outside shiny circle finish really makes it something special. The only thing I would really appreciate is a larger batter as I'm currently getting around 1:45 or 2 hours which is great but if its job is primarily travel 4 would be ideal. Other than that this is definitely the laptop for the guy or gal on the go.
