Reviews & Ratings for 400GB My Passport Studio FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive Nice size. Enough room to store your favorite files, documents and pictures. Speed is ok but not superfast. No Esata port is the only downside. Won't break the bank

Reviews & Ratings for 400GB My Passport Studio FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive I have used this for the past few weeks and it has been trouble-free, fast, and easy. I am using with a MBP/FW800 and it works great with Time-Machine and backs us very fast. It is also very inexpensive at $99. I was also considering the 500GB version of the Passport Studio, but wasn't willing to pay almost twice the price for an extra 100GB...

Reviews & Ratings for 400GB My Passport Studio FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive The most inexpensive FireWire 800 drive I could find with this much space. This drive performs wonderfully. Lots of space, runs without a power adapter and the case matches my MacBook pro.

Pros: Easy to Setup/Install, fast, quiet, reliable, Highly Compatible Cons: difficult to use
Reviews & Ratings for 400GB My Passport Studio FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive This drive gets high marks for overall design and general ease of use. It comes with cables and asks that ONLY these cables be used.
There is no Firewire 400 port on the drive, only an 800 port and a converter cable that can connect directly to a FW 400 port. This means you cannot use existing FW 400 cables already connected to your Mac to connect directly to this drive.
If traveling, you will need to bring the special cables that come with drive with you.
These limitations make this drive not quite what I was looking for and less convenient to synchronize data between my three Macs.
There are some clever LED lights to indicate status and a sliding port cover that is a little difficult to get a grip on due to a slightly slippery surface.
It is as compact as similar drives by other manufacturers. I like its rounded sides. The cloth case is ok, but is not roomy enough to accommodate the three cables that are needed with the drive.
These issues aside, I like the drive and it comes with one of the longest warranties you can find.

Pros: firewire Cons: none really
Reviews & Ratings for 400GB My Passport Studio FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive Works fine, Firewire is great! For the same price could get an extra 25% capacity with USB only, I prefer firewire. Silver color nice and sober, but a little boring. The real test is reliability, WD appears as good as any.
