I don't really know why some folks don't like this printer. It has exceeded my expectations. This printer is used in a small, two employee setting, not a large network like some are trying to use it in, so that may make the difference. I use it to print day to day office materials but also use it for short runs of flyers, newsletters and brochures. I have wowed my fellow Rotarians with a color newsletter!

I'm still on the original consumables that came with the unit, so we'll see what kind of mileage I get out of them. Print quality is fantastic for my use. Heck, it's fantastic anyway!

No cons so far and I am not expecting there to be any in the future. Buy this printer with confidence. It works great in my small office setting.

The printer was very easy to set up and we were printing through our wireless system within an hour.

The picture print quality is better than our previous HP 2550L but the prints come out a bit too dark on glossy paper.

Pros: Comes out of sleep mode quickly. Much cleaner output so far than the Brother HL-4070CDW that it is replacing. The printer setup is a breeze, took maybe 5 minutes, just remove some orange tape, cartridges are preinstalled, pull tabs to release toner

Cons: HP's status software sometimes behaves like malware. I have had issues in the past with the HP tray application on Windows XP (hence 4.5 instead of 5 stars), not so much of a problem on MAC OSX (Leopard).
Summary: I replaced the Brother HL-4070CDW with this printer, and no regrets so far. It has only been installed for a bit over a week so it is too early to tell as far as toner usage and reliability. But it just feels like a solid printer. It took longer to install the software on Windows XP than it did to setup the printer. Both Windows XP and MAC OSX had no problems finding the printer on the local network (wired). The color output looks crisp and smooth. If I get a chance and I remember I will post an update when I need to replace the first toner cartridge. It appears to have fairly detailed resolution into the tone supplies in the printer status (at least from the MAC).

It also seems to do a decent job as a draft photo printer. It cannot compete with my Canon i9900 photo printer, but for photos in brochures it will do a nice job. Note that compared with the HP L7680 OfficeJet All-In-One it actually produces better photo output on plain paper (and much faster) - at least for one comparison sample that I printed.

As for paper handling, it was able to print a slightly less than half sheet paper without jamming, which represents the paper size of my Quicken personal checks when only one check is left to print. Paper handling was the original motivation for getting a new printer when I bought the Brother. My old LaserJet 4000 would jam half the time with these short sheets of checks.
