Reviews & Ratings for 2 Port Native PCI Express RS232 Serial Adapter Card with 16950 UART At last: Something to justify those little X1 PCI-Express slots.
As serial ports become rarer on modern motherboards, here's a solution that also makes use of those previously mysterious and useless X1 slots.
I needed a serial port, and the particular application would not work with most of the USB-to-Serial adapters available (An Infra-Red Blaster to control a satellite receiver).
This card solved my problem perfectly, and cheaply, without forcing me to remove something from my otherwise full motherboard.
