MacBook Air 13.3" Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz/2GB/120GB/802.11n/BT/WC/9400M/OSX 10.5

The MacBook Air is still ultrathin, ultraportable, and ultra unlike anything else. But somehow there’s room to add so much more. A bigger hard drive. A 4x graphics performance boost. And more power for everyday tasks. Mobile computing has yet another new standard. MacBook Air is nearly as thin as your index finger. Yet it has a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display, a full-size keyboard, and a large Multi-Touch trackpad. It’s incomparably portable without the ultraportable screen and keyboard compromises. The nVidia GeForce 9400M graphics brings amazing, high-speed graphics to MacBook Air. With up to a 4x graphics performance boost, graphics-intensive applications now run faster. Movie and video playback is now richer.

I bought my air book about 6 months ago and flat out love it. I was a little skeptical but it is a workhorse. Fast, reliable and pretty durable. I bought a plastic clip on cover that I think helps protect it. The keyboard is terrific, it is easier to use in low light than my last Dell. Running window is a snap for the one (1) thing I need it for. No regrets.
If you have an ipod or iphone synching is a bonus but I downloaded a free app to sync with my blackberry

I was really not that excited about the Air when it came out. I was looking for something with a smaller footprint (like my old PB G4 12"), rather than a thin profile. But when i saw the Air in person I was sold, here's why: it has an excellent screen (important for me as I stare at it a lot) and I can slide it into a folio or backpack without even noticing it's there.

Highlights
- "Thiness": Unsurpassed and more useful than I thought

- Screen: Excellent. The best screen I have used in a portable computer.

- Trackpad: Excellent. Much, much, much better than any normal laptops (but Apple's trackpads have always been)

- Build quality: Outstanding. feels more solid than any laptop I have used. The unibody process Apple uses now on all laptops was developed for the Air and it shows why they did it.

- Illuminated keyboard: I would never buy a laptop without this feature again. It's that useful.

Not so great:

Price:
it is expensive, but by far exceeds any netbook in performance in almost any task that goes beyond simple browsing, email and word processing.

Perfomance:
It does feel a tad sluggish at times. I have a Mac Mini with similar specs (but GMA 950 graphics) and it seems to not slow down in the same way as the Air does sometimes. But it still faster than any netbook (or my PB 12") I 've used and handles all tasks I throw at it fast enough. I think the bottleneck is the slow-ish HD, I didn't have enough money for the SSD version.

Overall:
I believe I will be using this computer for as long as I did use my trusty PB G4 12", that is more than 5 years. It is a perfect complement to my desktop, and I do use the Air as a machine to get work done on its own. It is much easier to carry around than even most of the netbooks, I believe. Worth its money for me.
