Reviews & Ratings for Triple Horizontal Monitor Stand, Black, Heavy Duty First off, I bought this particular stand after calling the manufacturer to make sure it would work with my monitors - I have an LG 30" flanked by two Acer 19" widescreens in portrait mode. I was told this setup would fit "no problem," and, indeed, my side monitors could be even larger than they are and still fit on this stand.
The setup steps - assembling the main shaft to the base, then the arms to the main shaft, connecting the VESA mounts to the monitors, then connecting those mounts to the stand itself - are very easy. It's clear there was some excellent engineering work done, and I've read that this step is often very complicated on other stands. This stand features mounts with spring-actuated locks that hook on the arms then tilt down into place, locking them in position. Adjusting the flanking monitors "in and out" - towards or away from the center of the stand - is fairly simple - just tilt the monitor up and slide it along the arm. The arms themselves angle "towards and away" - either making a flat plane with all three monitors or some user-chosen angle - and they can be either locked into place or kept loosened for easy adjustment. Adjusting the height of the side monitors (with respect to the center monitor) is a snap, since they have a height-adjust knob built in - turn it one way and the monitor "pans up", turn it the other and it "pans down".
The only negative with this thing is the tilt adjustment step, and this was complicated further in my case by the layout of my workspace, which made accessing the stand behind the monitors additionally difficult. Each monitor has its own rotate and tilt adjustment which is secured with a hex-drive bolt (drive wrench included). You loosen the bolt, adjust the monitor, then tighten the bolt. Each direction has its own bolt - I've left the "rotate" bolts slightly loosened so I can adjust in that direction, but the "tilt" bolts need to be dogged down tight. And that's where the difficulty comes in. You need to loosen a bolt, tilt the monitor, hold it in place, and tighten the bolt again. Very tough to do while reaching over a 30" monitor that is set back on a workstation almost 3' from the front of the desk, all the while holding the monitor in place with one hand. If you have access to the back of the desk and another person to help, this would be a piece of cake, and the thing would get 5 stars across the board. For future versions, if the manufacturer included a "tilt adjust knob" on all three mount points, similar to the side monitor "height adjust knob", this would be pretty much perfect.
Now, that being said, once I finalized the position of the monitors, I haven't ever wanted or needed to move them, so after that initial time and effort was spent it's been fantastic. It's super-solid, well-built, does its job very well, and looks neat, too. If you are constantly adjusting your monitors, I'm not sure it's for you, but then again I wouldn't have a different product to recommend.
PS - Did lots of research, PC Connection had the best price.
