Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB FreeAgent Desk USB 2.0 External Hard Drive When I bought this unit from PC Connection is was on sale for about $120, shipping included so this was a great deal!
This external drive is great if you are going to use it mostly for backups and storage of photographs and music lke I do. It performs well and it is not as slow as I thought it would be. The unit is quiet and it performs in the background without almost noticing it.
I have used this product for about two-three months and have experienced no problem. Both the hardware and the software were very easy to install and performed as advertised from the get go.
Once you set-up your backup program it will run it automatically in the background without trouble. I hope I never have to use the restore function bbut if I do I suspec it will also be easy to use.
For the price I paid, this has been a great deal and thus far the unit has been dependable and reliable.
I hope PC Connection puts it on sale again and if they do, you should not hesitate to get at least one.

Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB FreeAgent Desk USB 2.0 External Hard Drive It's great to have a large drive to replace numerous older ones. However, the drive is quite slow, both for uploads and playing any media that you might have in it. Movies, especially the higher density ones, tend to play a bit choppy.

Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB FreeAgent Desk USB 2.0 External Hard Drive I bought this drive for both backup and extra storage. To be used with 'Time Machine' on Mac to do a full backup, I partitioned the drive to two drives: one for backup, one for storage. This erased all included software and relies only on the Mac software. 500GB should be plenty to keep a long record of backups and 1TB is good for storage of pics, music, etc. By partitioning the drive, this allows Time Machine to use one full drive and will not use up storage space on the other partition. $139 is a great price. With a USB2 connection, it is good for backup and storage, but I do not know if I would recommend constantly working from this drive. For that you might want to get a firewire drive.

Cons: difficult to use, Low Capacity, slow, unreliable, runs hot, Flimsy, Difficult to Install
Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB FreeAgent Desk USB 2.0 External Hard Drive It won't say that. You have to dig through Seagate customer service forums to find that out. Bought this when it was cheap in April, have regretted it since. The software does not support windows vista 64-bit, only 32. Even then, I've seen that tons of people still have problems. Do not buy if you have 64-bit.
