Reviews & Ratings for EOS 50D 15.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) Instead of providing an overly technical review, I would instead like to give a review from the perspective of someone who was looking to take the next step from the Canon Rebel line. My first DSLR was the Rebel XT. As a beginner camera it served it's purpose. It was great to learn on and gave you a good feel of what lie ahead. There comes a time though when a beginner becomes more serious about their photography and feels the need for a camera body that can perform at a higher level. Enter the Canon 50D.
If you are currently asking yourself, "What kind of leap should I make in my upgrade?" then this is for you. It made no sense for me to stick with the Rebel series. The improvements between the XTI, XS and XSI were marginal. The T1i has the same size sensor as the 50D without the performance. It does have video which the 50D does not. But if I wanted a real HD Cam then I would buy a dedicated one. At only a few hundred dollars more you can blow right past the child's play cameras and take the next step towards shooting with the big boys.
Overall, there are more controls but they are easy to navigate. The body feels full in your hand and your find it much easier to hold and keep steady.
