Reviews & Ratings for Apple Earphones w/ Remote + Mic I got these when I bought my Ipod Shuffle 3rd Gen. These are very handy if you run and don't want to look at the screen. Good sound and the remote is as easy as a car remote.

Great for Nano 4g

Pros: mic & remote function well, sound is good without cutting off all external con Cons: phones fall out of ear easily without foam covers, apple has stopped supplying foam covers
Reviews & Ratings for Apple Earphones w/ Remote + Mic This is an earphone with a mic that interfaces with the Nano 4G for doing voices memos, as well as the improved version of the remote. The remote has three buttons: up volume and down volume are at either end of the remote pod. The center controls start-stop and track changing.
First off, the remote is tiny, which is a great thing since it's less likely to snag on your clothing and pull the phone out of your ear. The mic is decent, both in sensitivity and sound quality. Handles wind-noise reasonably well, although not outstanding. (But then, what would you expect from an exposed mic behind a tiny mesh grill?)
The remote functions very well... the best I've tried in this general format. (Used several that are iPhone compatible, and this one has the most consistent correlation between the feel of the click and whether you've actually gotten it to function. Thats very important if you're using it to start and stop Voice Memos, because it's the only way you know if you're recording or not without looking at the screen.)
The phone are the standard apple phones. They are good if you want to listen without being cut off from the world, because they let in some background. (If you want zero background, you need in-ear buds of some kind.) The flat shape is good if you sleep with 'em in.
They suffer from the same falling-out-of-my-ear as the original Apple earphones. Putting foam covers on them helps keep them in, but Apple has stopped shipping foam with their phones. (Bad Form, Apple!) The cord is made of a plastic that tends to avoid tangling decently (not as well as my Denon earbuds, tho)
If you want to do Voice Memos, these are a very good choice. For listening to music, the remote functions are very convenient, too, because you don't have to fumble with the device constantly.
