Reviews & Ratings for 8" Wireless Digital Photo Frame A fantastic photo frame with a host of features. Most importantly, the 800x600 / 400:1 contrast display is gorgeous - images are sharp and color balance is outstanding! The Samsung SPF-85V has 64 GB internal memory and an SD card slot. 'Basic use is as easy as connected to your PC via USB (the internal memory is recognized as a drive) or slipping in an SD card containing your photos. Beyond that there are a host of nifty features which get you into technical territory and require some time to figure out. What I especially like is the "Samsung FrameChannel", which was relatively easy to set up. Separately on your computer you first establish a free FrameChannel account and configure your choices for news feeds, weather, photography channels, and various photo sites such as flickr, MSN, Facebook, Picasa. The SPF-85V can then display your FrameChannel & via the Wi-Fi connection - very cool and works like a charm! If you use Windows Live Spaces the SPF-85V can display photos on your Live Spaces account w/o going through FrameChannel. The unit is also automatically recognized by Windows Vista when detected on the network and can use Vista's media sharing. The same functions for a Windows XP machine requires installation of Samsung provided software, which I haven't tried. Nor have I tried the 'Mini-Monitor' functions, which let the unit function as a second computer monitor via the USB cable. My one complaint is that the menu interface can be sluggish at times if the unit is busy doing something like waiting for FrameChannel to respond. This leaves you wondering if you pushed the correct menu button. Patience seems to be the key. Hopefully Samsung will address this with a firmware update. Overall, I wanted something more than a cheapo bare bones photo frame and am very happy with the SPF-85V.
