I had my laptop in this case, inside of my heavily padded laptop backpack when I hung the backpack on a hook in an airport restroom. The entire bag fell, hard, about 4 feet onto the tile floor. I opened the bag to check my laptop. It hit hard enough to open the lid, but the case stayed on both top and bottom, and I believe took most of the impact. The laptop is still fully functional and the case is still holding strong.
