1.5TB ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition 6-Bay High Perfomance Storage

This version of the ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition comes with three 500GB Hard Drives for 1.5TB of capacity. Designed for small and medium businesses, workgroups and home offices, ReadyNAS Pro delivers class-leading performance, ease of use, and robust features in a small desktop form factor chassis supporting 6 SATA channels and up to 9 TB of storage. This 6-bay network attached storage (NAS) appliance is packed with enterprise server features, including RAID (redundant array of independent disks) levels 0, 1, 5, 6, and Auto-Expandable X-RAID2 support for data protection against disk failure, system monitoring capabilities and built-in backup. To ensure high availability to stored data, the ReadyNAS Pro features dual redundant Gigabit Ethernet ports for failover protection. Powered by an Intel multi-core processor, the ReadyNAS Pro is a powerful NAS for missioncritical business data across a variety of different platforms. The high-performance platform coupled with dual Gigabit Ethernet and jumbo frame support provides enough bandwidth to allow more users to access data storage simultaneously. With an easy Web browser interface and setup wizard, ReadyNAS can be configured with minimal effort saving you valuable time. Traditional file servers can take hours to configure, and they don’t have built-in system monitoring and email alerts. With the ReadyNAS Pro, you’ll receive email alerts whenever something out of the ordinary arises, such as disk failure, overtemperature condition, and fan failure, giving you peace of mind. The ReadyNAS Pro utilizes hardware-accelerated RAID to ensure full data redundancy without compromising the system performance. Incorporating Intel Matrix Storage Technology, the ReadyNAS Pro supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, and NETGEAR’s patent pending X-RAID2, with hot spare capability. With RAID 6, the system ensures data integrity even with 2 simultaneous disk failures. The extra disk bays provided by the 6-bay ReadyNAS Pro makes RAID 6 and hot spares practical options worth considering to prevent any prolonged state in which the ReadyNAS data volume is left in an unprotected state. X-RAID2 is the 2nd generation of ReadyNAS’s proven patent-pending Auto-Expandable RAID technology. X-RAID2 automates the volume expansion for you as you scale from 1 drive to 6 drives while keeping your data online. Additionally, as your storage requirement grows, you can replace your disks with larger capacity ones, and X-RAID2 automatically and incrementally expands your storage vertically. No other NAS devices in this class can do this without reformatting your disks and shuffling your data back and forth.

Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition 6-Bay High Perfomance Storage
I was looking for more storage and redundancy, and this device gave me what I was looking for. It's relatively easy to set up and maintain. And it has some nice features.

IMHO, it's a stretch for them to call this a "business" device. It doesn't integrate easily or fully with an AD domain, and you have to tinker quite a bit to get permissions where you can use them. The built-in software can be a little flaky. And their support is also not what I'd call "business-class" - it's mostly via forums.

But it's relatively inexpensive for what you get, and it performs very well. And I really like the built-in software for serving files to various media devices. It's just a few tiny utilities short of being a full server replacement.

Recommended.

Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition 6-Bay High Perfomance Storage
The ReadyNAS Pro is an excellent value. We are a small company, so a lot of the NAS/SAN products are just too much money for us. I read a lot of reviews of this product before buying, and they were all positive. So far, it does as much as products costing 4 times as much. We are using as an RSYCN backup server, and disk based backup. Network performance is very fast with this box. It's very quiet. Configuration is a a breeze using the web interface. Highly recommended. I suggest buying the model with 500 GB drives, then adding additional drives you purchase seperatley.
