Reviews & Ratings for 500GB Little Disk USB 2.0 Mobile Hard Drive, Design by Sam Hecht
I purchased 2 of these drives. Lot's of storage, small package, convenient retractable USB cable. I'm using them for "Time Machine" and other general backup. I've had very good luck with LaCie D2 products in the past so I decided to try these. So far I'm very pleased. Longevity will be the most important issue, so it's too soon to comment on that.
As of right now, highly recommended.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB Little Disk USB 2.0 Mobile Hard Drive, Design by Sam Hecht
It's too soon to comment on reliability, but I liked the retractable USB cable and ease of connecting hardware to my Mac. With an Intel MacBook Pro there are a few extra complexities in setting up both Mac and Windows partitions, but working through the Mac OSX setup documentation wasn't too difficult.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB Little Disk USB 2.0 Mobile Hard Drive, Design by Sam Hecht
This is a great little drive. I bought one a few months ago and loved it. I use it to clone my hard drive. I liked it so much I looked for it again at $99.00 and found it at PC Connection and purchased another one. This one I use to do a Time Machine back up. Great size very compact and I love the little usb connector that pulls out so I don't have to carry a usb cable around.

I would highly recommend this drive to other people.

This might be a serviceable little drive for Windows boxes, but its best features are disabled on the Mac. Worst of all, there's no FireWire, so it's very slow. It's a pity. The extractable cable is a great feature.

A little tempermental at first... Date: January 8, 2009

Pros: compact and light
Cons: difficult installation

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB Little Disk USB 2.0 Mobile Hard Drive, Design by Sam Hecht
The LaCie mobile drive does a perfectly sufficent job of doing what it's supposed to. Initial installation was a bit problematic, however, and our IT department had to come take a look at it as the user kept getting "disk full" errors (when only a 70GB file was getting dumped onto a 500GB hard drive). Our IT department found a lot of additional manufacturer "stuff" on the drive which they removed. Once that happened, the drive worked fine.
