Pros: compatibility, print quality, value for money Cons: wireless networking not simple
Reviews & Ratings for MFC-7840W Laser Wireless MFC I purchased this to replace a prior Brother multi-function printer that had lasted over 4 years. I don't need the fax function but was attracted to the wireless support for both PCs and Macs. I had been unable to get my old Brother to work with my Mac laptop before it finally died.
The print, scan and copy functions are just fine for my home office needs. The wireless printing support is a non-trivial exercise to implement. Took me three different attempts but eventually got it working just fine on both my Macbook Pro and a new windows Vista laptop. I particularly appreciated the bundled copy of Paperport (version 11, not the most current one), as it meant I did not need to pay to upgrade my old version of Paperport that was not compatible with Vista. I've found Brother printers to be very reliable for home use.

Reviews & Ratings for MFC-7840W Laser Wireless MFC Great printer for the price. Great print quality, scan function is a little slow. Had a little trouble setting the printer up on the network - installing the software varied on how it would be used, wirelessly, direct or network. Overall a great printer.

Reviews & Ratings for MFC-7840W Laser Wireless MFC I like almost all the feature of this printer except for the scan feature. When it save a multiple page scan, it save each sheet as a separate page and then you have to combine the pages. Kind of a pain. The scanner also keeps loosing my wireless signal and I have to reboot the computer. Scanning is very slow.

Pros: full feature set, mac/pc integrated, outstanding print/text quality, ease of use, ease of setup Cons: a little noisy ( if at desk )
Reviews & Ratings for MFC-7840W Laser Wireless MFC after getting some office time under my belt, i am a huge fan of this printer and the brother approach to office printing.
brother integrates the software + hardware better than other companies i've used ( HP, Dell ). everything seems to work simply and the way you expect without forcing you into the use of 3rd party software ( PaperPort, etc. ).
print quality is OUTSTANDING for b/w office purposes. the sharpest i've seen.
the fan runs for a while, which can be a bit noisy, if it sits at your desk. about the same decibel as an external 3.5 SATA drive.
can't recommend this enough for offices with mixed Mac/PC clients. great integration and full feature set for both pc makers.

Pros: price, quality, speed, ease of use Cons: haven't found any yet.
Reviews & Ratings for MFC-7840W Laser Wireless MFC I purchased this printer in 10/08. It has worked flawlessly. The installation was a breeze, the print quality is excellent, and it's super fast. I did tons of research before purchasing. All the reviews said that this printer is the best value for small business/home office use for printing from a Macintosh. I have to agree. I'm very pleased!

So Far, So Good

Reviews & Ratings for MFC-7840W Laser Wireless MFC I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my partner who is a solo practitioner. It was extremely easy to set up and connect to the wireless network, and the print quality is excellent. The machine is so quite, you hardly know it's printing...unlike the other inkjet printers previously owned.
