Once the Carbonite software has been installed, customers can use the service for one full year and backup online as much data as they would like with no size limitation. After one year, they can choose to stop the service or continue using Carbonite as paying customers for $49/year.

Easy to set up, either with included software or using Windows disk management routines. Mine is on a e-SATA connection and reconnects reliably at boot time. Very high speed transfers, especially of large contiguous files. Plus, it is quiet as a mouse.

It's fast, quiet and a great bang for the buck. I run a recording studio and I have 6 other various lacie externals, all of them, including the porsche models, have been very reliable but the porsche models run hot and I had to put them on wire racks so they could get air all around them. I really like this model, a big improvement. Of course the amount of storage for the price is a true bargain.

The fan can get very annoying and would not take any info off my mac. If you use pc and mac this is not the drive you want.

The drive looks great, very sleek and shiny. It's very quiet, very compact. I've heard great things about LaCie drives, and so far I have not been disappointed. During the setup process, I went ahead & chose to create an exchange partition as well so that my wife's PC notebook could connect to it for backup purposes as well. Fairly intuitive, quick setup procedure. Been running it for about 3 weeks now and no hiccups to speak of. It's sleek, compact (fits just under my 24-inch iMac), fairly quiet and unobtrusive. Plays well with Leopard's Time Machine; not quite as well with my wife's Windows XP laptop, but tolerable.
