The HP OfficeJet 6500 integrates a high-speed color printer, flatbed/ADF scanner, copier and fax machine into one unit to save you time, money and aggravation. Because all four functions are designed to work together, you'll spend less time running cables and learning the vagaries of the new office contraption and spend more time using it productively. You have the speed of USB 2.0 connectivity and Ethernet connectivity and it's memory card slots support Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Secure Digital, MultimediaCard (MMC) and xD-Picture Card, allowing you to print right from the stored images.
The printer delivers photo-realistic image quality. 4800 x 1200 dpi color when printing from a computer gives any document a crisp and professional look. The paper tray can handle up to 250 sheets and you can use a variety of paper up to 8.5" x 14". Easily print screen captures of web pages, on-line transactions, and more with a push of a button on your keyboard. The scanner reads at up to 2400 x 4800 dpi hardware with interpolation up to 19,200 dpi. 48-bit color captures millions of colors. The digital copier produces a maximum color resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi on photo paper. Reduce and enlarge between 25 and 400 percent and make up to up to 100 copies from the original. Make a maximum of 32 copies per minute in black and 31 copies per minute in color. Its fax function provides fast, convenient faxing with speeds of up to 3 seconds per page. Utilize its color and black faxing, auto fax reduction, auto redialing, speed dialing and PC fax send.

I need to print and fax resumes, copy documents, and although I haven't used it yet I will need to scan, it's the perfect tool to work at home. I especially love that I can remotely print from my laptop no matter where I am in the house! Only con would be that it is a bit noisy preparing to, and printing but that's minor.

Everytime I purchased ink for it, I would consider buying a new Kodak Printer, because I had heard about the realitively inexpensive quality of the ink. While shopping for the currently available all-in-one printers, my main direction was the Kodak EPS9, I found a website to compare printers of essentially equal likeness. I spotted the HP 6500 all-in-one. The ink can be bought individually, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and black, for the comparable price of the Kodak the Kodak ink. I already have, and have owned, other HP products, and have had good success and performance from the equipment. When I started to shop specifically for the HP 6500, I was overjoyed with the price being halk of the Kodak EPS 9. I bought, and am using, the new HP printer, and only need to say, it is everything I expected...PERFORMANCE, residual cost for ink, and although it's actually more than I really needed, it came at a very reasonable price.

Reviews & Ratings for HP OfficeJet 6500 All-In-One Printer Overall, I really like this printer. Had to replace my old HP Photosmart due to a lightning hit and wanted something of similar quality. I had purchased an Epson Scanner about a year ago, so I had lots of "stuff" on my desktop. I love the footprint of this printer and the all in one features which for the most part are easy to use and intuitive. My only issue has been figuring out the scanning modes for scanning to ms word or pdf formats. I seem to have difficulty controlling the font size and don't get the whole image in the scan. Works great when scanning to jpeg format. It was very easy to set up, although I have not set up the fax yet as I am using a cable modem phone and haven't figured it out yet. I don't think it will be hard; I just don't use fax much and didn't want to spend the time on it. The only negative is that it is a little loud on start up. A minor issue overall.

Reviews & Ratings for HP OfficeJet 6500 All-In-One Printer I recently acquired a new MacBook Pro & MacBook. This meant lost scanning capabilities w/my old reliable HP 6110 AIO since HP no longer supports scanning software updates for 10.5+.
I bought the HP 6500 AIO to regain scanning capabilities. I couldn't be more pleased! Set-up was seamless & effortless. I am using ethernet connectivity through my wireless home network. From my two laptops, printing & scanning is functional wirelessly. Everything works great.
I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great AIO.
My only negative comment is the lack of a User's Guide/Manual. I retrieved & printed set-up documentation from HP's product website.
PS: I considered the wireless version of the 6500. Since my AIO is within close proximity to my router hub, I found no need to duplicate wireless capabilities by purchasing a wireless AIO. My Airport Extreme takes care of the wireless connection just fine.
