Reviews & Ratings for Veriton L460-UD6421C Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13GHz/4MBL2/1066MHz/2GB/160GB/SuperMulti/bg/GigNIC/VB
I bought this desktop to replace my 4-year old and VERY LOUD Dell Dimension 4700c, which was a slim tower design. I don't like big huge towers, so I love the fact that this laptop is so tiny (much tinier than even the slim-design tower I had--it's about the size of a dictionary) and don't mind the "trade off" of not being able to expand.

Love: (1) tiny, tiny size; (2) not an energy hog and relatively quiet demeanor (not as quiet as a laptop--like my Lenovo ThinkPad x200s, which is SILENT--but very quiet for a tower computer...if this can even be called a tower...and leaps and bounds quieter than the LOUD Dell I had before); (3) SUPER fast for my needs (I do basic MS Office tasks, some internet radio, web surfing, emailing, etc...I don't do gaming); (4) the value of this little desktop is sweet...with the price, I could get almost 2 of these for the price of 1 Dell Studio Hybrid (the other computer I considered) decked out the way I want it, and even the Hybrid customized with the best processor offered doesn't come close to the speedy processor that this Acer has.

In fact, for this price, I've decided I'm going to get my parents one of these (who currently have a circa 2000 dinosaur that is so slow it discourages them from using it).

Surprised that I love: Windows Vista Business (which comes pre-installed on the system, but also comes with the discs for the XP Pro downgrade). I didn't think I'd like Vista given all the negative publicity but have been pleasantly surprised by it. I like the look of it (it's aesthetically more pleasing than XP Pro) and it seems more intuitive and easier to use than XP Pro OS.

Note: I bought 2GB of RAM (about $25) to upgrade it to the full 4GB RAM (its capacity as well as the OS capacity if you consider that video uses some amount of RAM above the 3GB that the OS uses). now the boot up time seems even faster than before. (if it came with 4GB RAM, I'd give it a 5 star for performance.)

Highly recommend the Acer Veriton L460.
