Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

The new MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air each have a Mini DisplayPort that allows you to connect an external display or projector using an adapter. You can use an external display as your main workspace or to extend your desktop, or you can work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees. Use the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air to a standard analog monitor, projector, or LCD that uses a VGA connector or cable. Review the documentation or check with the manufacturer of your monitor to make sure you're choosing the right adapter.

Reviews & Ratings for Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter
I read many reviews about this product and was apprehensive with this purchase. I recently acquired a new MacBook which would be used exclusively for business. I had a Sales Orientation Meeting presentation the first day I deployed this laptop. I attached this MDP to VGA adapter to my laptop & LCD projector. And to my relief, everything ran smoothly without a hitch. (Note: I had my old Powerbook ready for use if this set-up did not work.) I am very pleased with this purchased. It works as advertised.

Pros: well designed, works well
Cons: challenging to plug in, can pull loose

Reviews & Ratings for Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter
If you want to plug your MacBook into an external monitor (w/VGA adapter) then this is an essential component. The adapter is well designed and sturdy but is challenging to plug in if you have surround ports connected. Also if you move your laptop around lot while using the the adapter it might come loose. It and the DVI adapter have worked great for me though.

Functional, but difficult to use Date: December 23, 2008

Pros: works great
Cons: vga connection may not be reliable

Reviews & Ratings for Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter
If you need to connect your DisplayPort equipped Mac to a VGA monitor/projector, this is your only option (as of this writing). However, in Apple's attempt to make an elegant product they made it more difficult to use. The VGA connector in the adapter is recessed into the body of the adapter. If the VGA wire you want to plug in doesn't have pins, housing, or securing screws that extend far enough into the adapter, or the housing of the wire you wan to connect interferes (as was the case with me) you will not get a secure or reliable connection. It works great if you can plug it in. If not, you will need a wire that works because there is no other adapter. Apparently the lessons learned from the headphone jack of iPhone round one didn't extend into other products.
