Quad interface, RAID-enabled, about 30% less power consumption, and formatted for Mac. The My Book Studio Edition II treads lightly on the earth and carries big performance for creative professionals. Lightning-fast FireWire 800 combined with RAID 0 (Striped) yields the speed you need for smooth video editing, rendering complex 3D objects or special effects and saving huge blocks of data in record time. Designed to use only WD's GreenPower drives, this system uses about 30% less energy than standard systems and runs quietly because it doesn't need a fan. Drives can be easily upgraded.
The My Book Studio Edition II works with Apple's Time Machine. It includes software and instructions for reformatting to Windows. Included automatic backup software backs up important projects to multiple destinations including file servers, portable drives and My Book. Set it and forget it; every time you save a change it's automatically backed up. The drive is ideal for smooth video editing, rendering complex 3D objects or special effects and saving huge blocks of data in record time.

Reviews & Ratings for 1TB My Book Studio Edition II External Hard Drive I purchased one of these drives as an external back to replace the old LaCie, that died after way too short a time. It' s used in my office as a nightly, full backup copy, using SuperDuper software and it works perfect for that. I liked the multitude of interfaces available, as it provides flexibility. It is relatively quick and runs cool and quiet. I only gave it 3 stars for ease of use, since I did not try any of their own software.

Reviews & Ratings for 1TB My Book Studio Edition II External Hard Drive I never could get the software to install correctly. The drive was not recognized as an external hard drive. This has been a very frustrating purchase. It's not PcConnections problem but the Western Digital software is very poor. I will go back to Maxtor or Seagate.
