Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive Seemed solid. But no troubleshooting manual, and then it just quit. The light is on but not recognized on the desktop, no matter which cable is used. The power cable is hard to plug into the unit. It was fairly noisy, but now it is nice and quiet. Had less than a year.
Not impressed.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive This external hard drive is a very good choice for use as the disc for Time Machine in Mac OS Snow Leopard. It was very easy to set up for this use and lives up to all of my expectations when I ordered it.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive Easy to install, quiet, fast, unreliable. I have now had two different LaCie drives fail, one after 2 years, one after 7 months; the first for no apparent reason, the second in the context of a power failure.
I wouldnt buy one again.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I have been using a Lacie external 300 GB drive for years with absolute reliability. I love the triple interface of this drive and Mac compatibility. These are some reasons why I purchased another Lacie drive.
This drive is being used for Apples' Time Machine back up only.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive Easy to purchase...easy to set up (even for one who is not totally computer savvy). I used your tech support online and they responded pretty quickly. I just recently got it and have had no problems as yet. It's doing the job I purchased it for... I did get email coupons from PC Connection for the same device but with larger capacity pretty quickly after I purchased this one, which was a little discouraging to know I could have saved some money by waiting, but..... happy so far overall.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive Directions were easy to follow. The software for my MAC running Leopard asked whether I wished to make it the backup drive for Time Machine, which I did.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I use several external drives several times a week, backing up job files from several computers and transporting for use in other locations. This is the nicest drive I have seen yet! Very easy to set up and use. I like the included stand allowing it to stand up on edge, takes up less desk space. I like that it came with several different cords included, did not have to go buy a cord before being able to use it. I would recommend this drive to everyone, it can use USB or firewire connection.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I wish the lacie allowed you to easily partition it to even amounts of space for both pc and mac. I use both computer types about evenly and would like to split my HD space down the middle, however, I have not been able to partition the lacie to more than 32 gigs for one and 468 gigs for the other.(i have a 500 gig) I heard it is possible to do so, however, I have not been able to figure that out.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I do not work for LaCie or PC Connection, but the LaCie D2 Quadra is the best deal out there right now. It appears well-designed and rock solid. I LOVED setting it up.
I needed a hard drive that could boot up my Mac Mini via FireWire, and this baby does. I found out the hard way that the Western Digital external drives aren't designed to be used as a boot disk. They advertise to be Mac compatible, but only as a backup drive. Only through phone support did I finally get the real scoop.
I needed to boot up from an external because my Mini's internal crapped out and I didn't want to take the trouble to do surgery. Also, I've found FireWire to be MUCH faster than USB, since it doesn't need the CPU to transfer data. Plus you can daisy-chain FireWire devices. I was running out of USB ports and wasn't looking forward to getting a hub. I got two LaCie's. One for my main drive, and one for backup. Transfering files between the two is LIGHTNING fast via FireWire, and would be even faster via eSATA. I also love the three position on/auto/off switch on the back. Most of the other drives out there have no switch at all. I like turning off my backup drive when I'm not using it.
Cudos to PC Connection for accepting giving me a full refund on the WD drive with no hassles. Mac or PC, this drive will make you smile.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I was looking for an external hard drive and a friend who is more technologically saavy than I recommended the Lacie name brand. It was easy to install and use, is very quiet and does not run hot. I have had no problems with it and would recommend it to others. Furthermore, the price was right!!

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I tried other drives, including some USB drives that claim to be faster than firewire. NOT! Not only did this LaCie drive connect without a hitch, it was like lightning! If you have a Mac, the LaCie drive with firewire is the way to go. If you have a PC, I'll keep you in my prayers, but the LaCie drive is still the way to go. It's fast, it's easy, and the price it very good.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB D2 Quadra eSATA/USB 2.0/FireWire400/FireWire800 External Hard Drive I've been using this drive for a few months and I am quite impressed with the speed (using a Mac and a FireWire 800 port) and the ease of setting this up. Litterally was a plug in and go solution for me and it has been a breeze since taking it out of the box.
Overall I like the drive a lot. It is a little loud, but it's not bothersome. I've had a few instances where I've had issues with the Mac TimeMachine backing up, but it's intermittent and it could be a software/computer problem rather than a drive problem.
I store all my backup info on this drive and all my MP3s and have no problems accessing this daily.
