Reviews & Ratings for 1TB My Book Mirror Edition USB 2.0 External Hard Drive I recently purchased My Book Mirror to replace a LaCie drive that I had outgrown. After a hard drive crash in September on a MacBook, I was greatly relieved to have an immediate and totally current backup (on the LaCie) thanks to Time Machine. With the successful restore and a new hard drive, I decided to upgrade with the mirror drive. People with important or priceless files cannot take back ups for granted. Thus the combination of Time Machine and a mirroring drive seems like a very secure option.
I have been using MyBook for over a month now. The only problem was with initial set-up. Apple people need to use Disk Utility to properly format the machine. Western Digital was very helpful with tech support and Apple has a good tech paper in the support section of their site.
I even performed an archive and install a few days ago to try and cure a system software issue. Although that didn't cure the glitch, I was able to do a full restore from MyBook with no problems. Very reassuring.
The machine is extremely quiet and unobtrusive. It just sits there and does what it's meant to do. So far, I would definitely recommend it.
