Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) One has to wonder how a virtual version of Windows can run so well. Amazing how easy it was to make a copy of my old pc using the converter and pop it on my iMAC and, unlike an install of Windows taking 90 minutes, within minutes Fusion had my old pc running on my iMAC. For all the good that can be said about Fusion, it was touch and go for a week or two after the Snow Leopard upgrade and there are still some unresolved issues, more annoying then urgent, but still issues. USB support can be touchy, that mouse losing focus is a pain and no hint from VM on whether they're ready for Win7 is really annoying as Oct 22nd approaches. They've had all summer with the Release Candidate out there, to make sure fusion will work but when I ran the pre release it registered Win7 as Vista... not pretty, although it did work. Bottom line, amazing Fusion allows one to run Windows on a Mac with relative ease and as long as you have enough RAM you can often forget you're using a MAC. It's that good. But sound card support and USB support is still a little weak, partly because of the MAC's implementation of audio. I liked it so much I bought a MacBook and another license to run Fusion and Windows on my MacBook.

Pros: stable product, performs as advertised, works transparently in mac environment, excellent graphics in virtual environment Cons: importing an existing pc is technical, runs pc (xp) programs slower than parallels, allocates more memory than currently needed
Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) VMWare Fusion is a Mac specific version of VMWare's seasoned Virtual Machine software. it has been very stable. The lower 'Ease of use' score is because it is a bit technical to set up and the instructions provided are a bit inconsistent and assume a degree of computer literacy beyond the average user. The 'import' tool for porting an existing computer into a virtual machine is far from 'turn key'. by contrast, Parallels, it's only direct competitor runs 10 to 25% faster and is easier to configure. Porting an existing PC into a virtual one is extremely simple with tools provided by Parallels. literally about 3 steps. Fusion takes about 48. However, once Fusion is set up, and your PC imported, if that is the direction you go, Fusion performs as advertised and from that point on is easy to use. i've had my PC for about 7 years and therefore had accumulated a lot of software that I'm sure I no longer have the installation disks for. Fusion allowed me to move to a much more powerful computer, take advantage of the superior Mac environment and still maintain all of the programs and data, intact and functioning from my Windows XP PC.

Windows on My Mac

Pros: ease of installation
Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I purchased VMWare's Fusion 2 on a lark, as I really don't need to run Windows at all. However, I was interested in trying Windows 7, as I had access to a pre-release version. I know I could have used Apple's Bootcamp, but didn't want to have to choose between Windows and OSX at each boot, and VMWare allows you to run the two simultaneously.
First I loaded Fusion, and then inserted the disc for Windows 7 and proceeded exactly as I would have on a Windows PC. After the usual installation merry-go-round, Windows 7 booted up like a chmp -- and everything worked! Sound, wireless network, everything.
I would heartily recommend Fusion 2 to anyone who has a need, or merely an interest, in running Windows and OSX alongside one another.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I love this software. It has allowed me to use my existing Windows programs on my Mac. I needed to use these programs because in some cases I had a license for the Windows version of it, while in others, there wasn't an equivalent program for the Mac.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I used Fusion to configure IIS in a Windows XP session. It works very well. There could be a bit more documentation; it took me a while to figure out how to create a copy of a VM.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) If you are switching from PC to Mac like me, you definitely need to get this product. If you have legacy software that cannot run (smoothly) on a Mac, you can install it in the VM and launch is like a regular Mac program under the unity mode. The Unity mode is indeed a "miracle" - it allows you to enjoy your Mac without the downside of worrying about compatibility issues. Installation is fast and easy. Highly recommended.

Pros: easily transfer data between mac and pc programs, convenient setup, easty to backup your virtual machines Cons: significantly slows down all programs when running
Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I've been running this software for a month now, and it's been REALLY helpful.
I run several windows programs that simply have no equivalent on the Mac. It's been great having the ability to start those programs up without having to close out everything else I'm doing on the Mac.
I do only have 2 GB of ram in my laptop, and I can definitely see why they suggest you have 4 GB if you want to run this software. Everything runs just fine, but it's definitely slow, and I need to watch how many mac applications I have open when running Fusion.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I got this product for my Macbook but haven't installed it yet. I have it on my iMac 24" at work (4 GB ram, 3 Ghz processors) and it does the job. It runs XP decently - the speed is impressive and it does run products pretty well. The mouse is jerky constantly and some apps run slowly but I am suitably impressed by the product. Get as much RAM as you can - it needs it. Overall, a fine product. Worth the money.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I was a bit concerned about VMware Fusion and it working with ease. I heard good things, but also read some people who had issues with the install. I think so far so good and would recommend it for running Quickbooks Pro 2009.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I imported Win XP from Vitrual PC. I selected the import menu item, pointed to my EHD copy of the Virtual PC Win XP file, execute. No brainer. That was worth every cent. Have to fiddle a little with settings both Fusion and guest OS. Didn't take long. Can share a specific folder or file on your Mac file system, bypassing all other folders/files. i.e. I use Quicken 2009 (I know, barf) to open a file on the Mac. Takes 2 settings to talk to the internet; Fusion_>Settings->NAT and SysPref->Sharing->Internet Sharing. Did blow up when I tried to expand file system and virtual memory for a game. Therefore, no games on my serious machine. A rule to live by. Backup is a simple copy of the WinXP file to EHD.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I am a Medical IT Analyst and I use Fusion 2.0 running Windows XP Pro on my new MacBook Pro unibody. I did order the 4GB RAM upgrade on the MacBook and with that upgrade I see very good performance with Fusion running with OSx. I remote into all of the systems and servers I support that are Windows based, and everything works extremely well. If you need a Windows environment on your Mac buy this.....you'll be very glad you did !

Pros: this is a great fix for the windows only apps. Cons: poor installation instructions., mistakes can not easily be fixed.
Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) Took hours to do original install and errors from original install can not be corrected unless full format of hard drive is done. Have created suitable work around to perform separate re-install and system performs without any obvious flaws. Great product but poor instructions. If you are good with computers; this should be a snap.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) Purchased as part of my new iMac package. I was a little concerned when I read the reviews that showed that Parallels was faster than VMFusion. I installed it easily, set up Windows XP and was amazed at how fast the program ran the XP software. The program seemed faster than the duo core XP machine that I use at work. Explorer loaded very fast and it was a seamless experience. I haven't tried the various functions like printing, etc. but so far I am very impressed and happy with my choice.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I am currently using Fusion to run XP-Pro on my new MAC-Book Pro with no issues. I needed XP to run AutoCAD and Revit, the programs run great in the virtual PC and the only noticeable speed difference would be in the initial loading of a drawing in AutoCAD may take a few seconds longer. I am currently running with 4 GB ram which is split evenly between the MAc and virtual PC.

Reviews & Ratings for Fusion 2.0 for Mac OS X (FREE with purchase of any Apple CPU after rebates) I have only thus far used Fusion for the 30 day trial period (I've since purchased it and should arrive in a few days), but I find it easier and more intuitive than Parallels. The interface is more mac-like, is less mysterious to configure (re-configure), and I had much less hassle with getting things to print for an extended period of time.
