Reviews & Ratings for 24" L2410NM Widescreen LCD Monitor, Black
I bought this monitor as a replacement for my 22" HP, which my son to college after he did some gaming with it and was very impressed.

With such a (comparatively) low price, I was ready to accept that the display might not equal the HP. Boy, was I Wrong! This monitor absolutely rocks; I do lots of photo editing/graphics manipulation work, and the huge but technically perfect representations provided by this monitor made my life so much easier. It's the first time I've actually worked with a display that matches the precision of my Wacom tablet system.

I was telling a buddy of mine how much more enjoyable it made my work, and he asked me if I'd watched any of my in-car track video since I got it; I hadn't, but I popped in a disk and was blown away by the crispness and response time. Knowing that my video was a little herky-jerky though (because of the g-forces on the camera in the corners) I couldn't be sure about the monitor until I popped in "The Italian Job" DVD and almost forgot about work. I've never been able to watch a real movie on an LCD screen, whether integral to a laptop, or even on the HP, without being distracted by distortions or one kind or another in high contrast, fast moving action scenes. But with the Westinghouse, it's virtually indestiguishable from my old 36" Sony XBR tube TV.
In fact, this monitor is so good, not to mention versatile, that it is now set up in our bedroom with our new FIOS HD as a TV monitor. We've watched several movies and numerous TV shows in HD and SD, and the picture is excellent in either format. I'd rather watch SD TV on this monitor than on a huge 'real' TV because the image size, while eminently viewable from about 7' away, doesn't emphasize the poor resolution of a SD signal the way a 36" or larger LCD usually does.

The fact that you can use this as a computer monitor for the most detailed work imaginable, then turn it around and watch a movie in HD sitting on the sofa with your family, makes me wonder why Westinghouse doesn't include a remote control. That is the only shortfall I've found with this monitor, and the only reason I ranked its useability at 3; the control buttons are out of sight on the side of the monitor, and difficult to distinguish from one another. When using as a TV (with nothing but the integral speakers, which do an above average job by the way) and trying to adjust the volume, its just as likely that you'll change the input mode by accident.

On the other hand a 'monitor' that has VGA, s-video, component video, and HDMI inputs is about as much as you can ask for at such a reasonable price. And although the controls are a little tricky to use, especially when mis-used as a TV, the adjustments available are comprehensive and stable. When I first set it up as a TV, my graphics color settings were too cold and harsh for TV viewing. But the menu system, which is itself adjustable as to position on the screen and degree of transparency, allowed me to accurately portray skin tones and outdoor scenes, as well as ramp down the sharpness, all in the span of one commercial break.

If you are considering a monitor that might be used for watching moves or even as a TV, this is the only monitor that combines HD capability (and real HD inputs) and performance at a pricepoint below that of comparably sized 720p TV boxes, and you should put it at the top of your list.
