Matrix-UPS (Models 3000/5000) SmartCell Battery

SmartCells are an easy solution for increasing the runtime of APC's Matrix-UPS System (Models 3000 and 5000). In many UPS systems, batteries are connected in series so that when one battery fails, they all do. SmartCell battery packs connect in parallel for maximum security and fault tolerance. UPS designs where batteries are located alongside heat dissipating chargers and inverters can result in premature battery failure. SmartCells are self-contained and operate at room temperature. Simply put, they last longer than other battery packs and may only have to be replaced once during your UPS system's service life, as opposed to twice or thrice. Integrated micro-processors automatically monitor the SmartCell's operation and alert you to diminished capacities via built-in LED indicators. Warnings also register on your UPS front control panel and on monitoring software.
