Reviews & Ratings for Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler i have been using this cpu cooler for well over a year now for my socket 939 AMD3800X2 CPU. the blue LED looks great in my window case. it is very easy to maintain with compressed air due to the layout of the copper fins. installation was a bit tricky on the socket 939, and would also be on the AM2, as the silver-tone arm that holds it in place has to be properly positioned between the heatpipes. i have installed this cooler twice, when i first bought it and again when i replaced the thermal compound recently, and both times it took me at leadt 3-5 minutes just to get the silver bar in the proper position, not too big a deal in my opinion, i have seen ALOT worse. other than that install is a breeze. i really like the fact that it comes with its own little bottle Zalman Super Thermal Grease ZM-STG1 and the screw-top lid of the bottle hoses a small a small brush like one you would find in a bottle of white-out, it comes in very handy for applying the thermal grease and is the only thermal compound i have ever seen that comes with a solution for applying the grease. i have used this bottle of thermal grease for at least 5 CPU installs and still have plenty left in the bottle. another, even more important, benefit of this CPU cooler is the extremely smooth finish to the side that makes contact with your CPU. most heatsinks come with a rough finish that can only be made smooth, and more flat, by a meathod called lapping. lapping involves sandpaper and chemicals to remove a tiny amount of the surface area resulting in a flater and smoother surface. the side of the heatsink that comes in contact with the CPU should be as flat and smooth as possible. the more of the surface that comes into contact with the CPU the better the heat transfer. thats why we have to use thermal grease in the first place, to ensure the contact of the 2 surfaces and ensure the transfer of heat off of the CPU. this CPU cooler comes with a very smooth & mirror-like finish on the contact side, i was impressed. my cpu usually runs around 31-39C depending on load(according to speedfan) this cooler comes with a optional manual fan-speed control knob, the Fan Mate 2 that is long enough to be installed outside of your case and can be used with most any fan in your case. i build all my computers myself, have built many systems for friends who are gamers, and i highly reccommend this CPU cooler. in some computer cases and due to the configuration of certain motherboards, this CPU cooler may not fit, note that it does come in a smaller size, Mfr #: CNPS9500AM2 PC Connection Item #: 6851041, and Mfr #: CNPS9500AT PC Connection Item #: 7345036 remember to keep your CPU cooler, and the rest of your system, clean. the fan needs to move air to do its job. a can of compressed air used to clean the inside of your case, and replacing the thermal grease once a year, will add much time to the life of your computer system.
