I bought this enclosure to migrate files on a secondary 500GB drive originally installed in an old XP machine, and then to use it as an external backup drive on my new 64-bit Vista machine. Installation was a breeze.

The enclosure is very well made, compact and quiet thanks to a heat-conducting enclosure -- and there's no fan to wear out. The drive controller is smart enough to power down when not in use for a time. The blue LED power indicator is too bright, but I do like the way the color changes to red to indicate drive activity. A solid choice if a bit overpriced.

Used to scan, copy files and generally clean up several old hard drives removed from now defunct home computers. That done, the enclosure was used to house an old drive to function as a back-up drive for my wife's laptop, permanently attached to her port replicator - works like a charm - easy install.
