Notebook Cooler, Black

The Zalman ZM-NC1000 notebook cooler is an aerodynamically designed desktop cooler that reduces notebook temperature and overall noise. This notebook cooler is made from aluminum treated with D.S.A. (diamond cutting, sand blasting, and anodizing) for a strong frame that easily supports any notebook and the weight of your hands while typing. The cooler runs on 5V USB power and is plug-and-play ready. Two centrifugal fans inside draw air in and direct it with even distribution to the base of your notebook through high capacity air flow vents. There is also a manual control for adjusting the speed of the fans, and thus, noise as well.

Reviews & Ratings for Notebook Cooler, Black
1. Performance - I have a Dell XPS M1530 with 8600M GT card and its been running HOT! Doing 3dMark06 it peaked at 105C, and I scored only 3000 points because it was overheating. With this NC1000 on, turned on max, I peaked at 95C but scored 4677 points, showing that it prevented my laptop from overheating. In general, this cooler does an excellent job, my palm rests are much cooler. HOWEVER! It is fairly noisy - at maximum speed its almost unbearable, mainly because the fans are higher pitched. Its easily noticable because of the pitch, I can hear it at all speeds and it can be distracting in a quiet room if above medium speed.

More positives - its very sturdy construction, I dont feel like it'd be easy to break. The plastic on the bottom is thick and doesnt bend, and of course the aluminum is strong.

2. Features - Well as I said, its supposed to be very quiet but the one I got is very audible. However it features an extra USB port, which is good for my wireless mouse. It also has on/off and highly adjustable fan speed. The sloped design raises the monitor while keeping the keyboard comfortable.

The size of this notebook is so that my 15.4" Widescreen is slightly wider (1/2 inch on each side) and not as deep (has about 1.5 inches behind it)

3. Price - For $46, this is on the higher end of laptop coolers. But the quality is reflected in the price.

4. PCConnection - I got this product in 4 business days. Not bad!
