Beautiful machine, excellent performance for price, and the reduced pricing on the Summer 09 15" MacBook Pro from Apple makes it an even better deal. Switched from PC to Mac for both hardware and software. Still use PC at work but would switch if it weren't for some specific software. Easy connection to work PC with Remote Desktop Connection on the laptop. Overall very happy with purchase. MacConnection was great, free shipping and very easy online ordering.

Also, kudos to MacConnection...the first MacBook Pro I received from them had a malfunctioning "Q" key. They sent me a prepaid shipping label to return it, and 2-day shipped me another computer. They said not to worry about returning the defective one until I received the new one. I thought that was a really good example of excellent customer service, as I appreciated not having to be without a computer, even for a few days. Will shop here again!

Makes sense its the latest version but the new body design is sleek and functional. NO clumsy latch to open the lid - just a magnet - screen flips open with ease. And the screen - the new LED screen is FAR superior to anything else out there. I don't love the glossy - as a pro user I don't want to look at a reflection of everything in the screen so i prefer a matte screen - but the brightness and quality of the screen is so good i have quickly learn to deal with glossy.

The main feature that drove me more toward the Pro was the larger size of photos. For someone with a smaller budget the MacBook is fine. This is my first MacBook Pro and I am impressed by how nice the software really is. Adobe conversion is build in. iPhoto edits and organizes photos really great. There is a learning curve and a lot of searching the web for answers. I suggest using the Apple learning if you have a store near you. I am a bit of a geek so I like to self teach myself. As I type in this review it is being spell checked by the Mac. All programs are linked so addresses fill in automatically. If you don't mind spending time to learn the Mac then go for it!

With this MacBook Pro I've personally returned to the Mac after a long time away. It is as convenient, fast, and professional as I expected. The many elegant touches in OS X Leopard are pleasing time savers and work enhancers. Access to controls and tasks is excellent. System setup was a real breath of fresh air in comparison to a PC. Time Machine backup is fantastic. Touchpad gestures are fantastic. Screen brightness and sharpness more than overwhelm occasional minor annoyance from reflections. The mantra of "it just works" is fairly close to true, though there are annoyances. "Spotlight" searches are excellent in some ways, but neglect parts of the file system and are tedious and inferior when trying to locate files by date. Inability to resize a window from any side is mind-bogglingly irritating.

Also the bottom of the case become very hot. I bought it because Mac is the only laptop that doesn't have heat vent at the bottom of the case, and I thought I can put it on my lap, as laptop computer is meant to be used. I was so wrong! Last is the display has a very narrow viewing angle, vertically. You pretty much have to look at it straight on. Can't enjoy DVD with friends! Oh and you need 4GB memory. Leopard use way more (probably 2X) memory than WinXP does.

I have to say that this is just as good as my powerbook, and I can see that this computer is going to last me for years to come. The computer is rock solid, very sturdy. I bought a case from Incase and take the computer with me everywhere, and it works great. The screen is breath taking, and the battery life is excellent. No complaints here.
