Reviews & Ratings for 2TB LaCie USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Disk I love the size, as wide as 2 hard drives + space for ps/fan in back. I have it connected to my xbox360 for wmv-hd movies and it works perfectly, tons of space. I haven't noticed the fan noise that others complain of, but the 360 has a fan + I like my movies loud with 5.1 surround and bass. Unless you watch silent movies, the fan is a non-issue. I wish the USB auto sensed turning itself on/off like my last external drive (500gig) but its a acceptable trade off for the extra space. I just keep it off until I want to watch a movie.

But some things not advertised is the drive has two hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration that cannot be changed. After buying this drive I emailed LaCie tech support and they confirmed it. The other thing is the software is on the drive only, if you buy it burn the software off if you think you will need it later or go to LaCie and get the latest software and burn that off. Seems to be a common thing these days though not getting media. The other thing was the fan, its was constantly spinning on and off. Normal use it was too much for me, when it spins up its at the highest rpm and then turns off. I like the design of it turning on only to remove the heat, but it needs to slow down on the RPMs a little bit.

Reviews & Ratings for 2TB LaCie USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Disk Recently got one of these from PC Connection. It's a single drive, so if you want RAID/mirroring, you'll need a different drive. But if you just want 1.8TB of formatted storage with no need for configuration software, this is what you want- at least as of now. And it's a bargain.
