Reviews & Ratings for 500GB My Book Essential Edition 2.0 I've had a WD 60 GB plug-n-play hard drive for many years and haven't had any issues with it. Although I wasn't expecting to have a AC adapter to run the MyBook 500 GB, I can say that I'm pleased with the quality of this unit. I'm always a little weary of putting important documents on any drive, so I would advise to back up all data on DVD discs to insure that you maintain your files in case of complications with your unit. This isn't directed at WD, just hard drives in general. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone!

Read of nightmares trying to get the device serviced. Credibility and trustworthiness very much in question. Won't buy another product from this manufacturer.

Reviews & Ratings for 500GB My Book Essential Edition 2.0 We bought MyBook to back up three computers and iTunes, plus digital photographs that we take for our business. This is more than satisfactory for our needs. The only downside I've seen so far is that sometimes I have to log off and on several times before my computer recognizes the device, but this is probably an issue with my computer and not the device. Overall, I would recommend this product.
