802.11g Wireless Access Point (WG602)

Designed and developed to the IEEE 802.11g draft specification, the NETGEAR WG602 Wireless Access Point offers speeds of up to almost five times faster than the widely deployed 802.11b WLANs found in homes, businesses and public wireless hotspots around the world. Since they share the same frequency (2.4GHz), this product is backward compatible with existing IEEE 802.11b products. Similar to 802.11b, the 802.11g physical layer standard provides a throughput of up to 54Mbps. It also operates in the 2.4GHz frequency band but uses a different radio technology in order to boost overall bandwidth. While the IEEE 802.11g standard ratification is expected later in 2003, NETGEAR will provide customers with a firmware upgrade via the Support website, at no charge, if the ratification materially changes the principle operating features. In addition, NETGEAR will offer an upgrade to the new security protocol, WPA (Wi-Fi protected access).

Reviews & Ratings for 802.11g Wireless Access Point (WG602)
Once in a while these have spontaneously dropped a connection. If this gets problematic I just shut the unit off for 30 seconds and power back up. I have three in place at our place of work and their uptime is 99+%.

It's simple to setup and configure, it gets the job done as advertised and it looks nice. I believe I also bought mine and it included a $20 rebate!
