Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive So far I am extremely pleased with the Mac Book Pro except for 1 thing: the ad on the Apple website said the battery would last 7 hours, I've been lucky to get 4; I have not called product support yet and will do so this week. Otherwise, I like most everything about the Mac Book Pro: the 15" size provides an ample viewing area without causing the computer to be burdensome; the sleek design is stylish; OS 10.5 works like a charm and offers many features (a lot I have yet to learn well); the glossy screen is not as bad reflection-wise as I had anticipated, but a matte option would be nice; the full size keys make typing easy; my only disappointment is the short battery life. I would not hesitate to purchase this product again or to recommend it to a friend.

Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive In the fall I switched back to Mac platform and chose to use the MacBookPro for my office computer as well as the computer we use for running ProPresenter in our sanctuary for the services. I absolutely love it! I typically run it for weeks on end without having to restart it. I have done several intensive video projects that have passed with flying colors. There were not restarts in the middle like I had on my PC using Premiere. What can I say, I absolutely love the Mac platform and my MacBookPro!

Pros: shipping and packing are fantastic, knowledgeable staff, a "can do" attitude, are relentless until your problem is solved, prices are reasonable and frequenly unbeatable Cons: rebate policies are a bit vague, upgraded products are a bit overpriced
Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive Wow...talk about service. MacConnection is the best online electronics businesses I have ever used, and believe me, I am a very frequent purchaser of computers and components. I am a am very purchaser of various computers and electronics. MacConnection was courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and had a "can do" attitude and would not push me off the line with a shrug of the shoulder until my problem was resolved. As for buying electronic or computer products...good bye and good riddance to A**Z**N.COM In fact, since my purchase a mere few weeks ago, I steer several of my friends to MacConnection and they've already placed their order with you. There are several friends that are still thinking about not where to buy (that's already a given), their just tryinto see which they wanted. Keep up the great work!!!

Making the best better!

Pros: great design, great hardware features, good value for even the price Cons: needing mini displayport dongles, new firewire port
Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive I loved my old (2 gens ago) MacBook Pro but abused it too much and decided to get this MacBook Pro and Apple has made the best better! Clean unibody design, better keyboard, and improved LCD "cover up" the great underlying hardware features the Core 2 Duo, 4 GB memory, 320 HD Drive, etc. I especially like the I/O ports being on one side and CD/DVD driving finally being moved to other side (and not in front). The only nits are the need for Mini DisplayPort adapter/dongle to plug into an external monitors and needing a new FireWire 800 cable. Definitely recommend this laptop.

Very Very Good, but Not Perfect

Pros: gorgeously bright crisp screen, stunning design & appearance, great performance, unix-based operating system, magnetic power cord, good suite of useful apple apps, availability of vm fusion for xp transition, backlit keyboard, runs cooler than most laptops Cons: just average battery life, sharp edges of unibody shell under wrists, almost too heavy, difficult to grip & carry one-handed, battery technology already obsolete?
Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive Long review, but if you are spending $2,500 bucks, you may want to know everything you possibly can know.
Context: This is my first Apple product ever, after 25 years using PCs from DOS through WinXP. Decided that if I had to learn a new interface for Vista or Windows 7, might as well make the switch--especially after a $250 replacement keyboard in my IBM laptop failed for the second time in 6 months.
So . . . let me get the XP-on-Apple thing out of the way right here: XP runs better and faster under VM Fusion on my MacBook Pro than it did on my IBM X31 laptop (Lenovo manufactured, but before the divestiture and name change). If you are worried about transitioning from Windows, don't. That part is a breeze. With VM Fusion or Parallels, you can actually "keep" your old machine on your new machine, while you make the transition.
Now re: Mac-specific items. I debated between the new MacBook Pro 15" and the new unibody MacBook 13". Came down on the side of Pro, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have been happier with the weight and size of the 13". That said, the speed and performance of the 2.53GHz with 4GB RAM has been great--fast and stable. I would not call the Mac OS/X "easy to use," despite Macs' reputation, but it has been no worse than learning Vista and Office 2007 (probably easier than that). The keyboard "feel" is good and I adjusted quickly. Hope it's durable. I'm a fast typist and the quality of the keyboard was one of the big decision factors.
Since always I carry a laptop, as if it were a spiral bound notebook or a legal pad, the weight of this machine is right at the max I would consider. I know, I could have gotten the MacBook air and a deskside Mac, but that was beyond the budget. I have to remember that the 15" MacBook Pro includes a DVD/CD drive, which my sub-4 pound IBM laptop did not.
One additional thought about weight: it would be easier to one-hand this laptop and I'd feel a lot more secure if it had a rubberized surface somewhere, or a "grip-able" shape (my IBM X31's battery was actually shaped to provide a "hand hold" on the machine). Either suggestion would ruin the gorgeous appearance, and the MacBook Pro is a striking machine. But it's satin finish aluminum body is slippery. So, plan to use two hands and to be more careful than you may have been, when handling lighter or more grip-able laptops.
Battery life is a persistent problem for any of us who use laptops. I'm not getting anything like the "up to 8 hours" advertised for the just-announced (MacWorld, Jan 2009) 17" MacBook Pro offers. Will Apple offer some help for those of us who just bought 15"s (I've had mine less than 30 days). On the other hand, unless I missed something in their announcement of the 17" or in the video on the site, what does one do with a 17" after its 1,000 charge limit? Factory replaceable? At least I can buy a new battery.
One final point needs to be explained, since I listed it under "Cons." The sharp edge of the unibody case under your wrists gets awfully tiresome. I honestly thought it had brought on carpal tunnel problems, as a result of the first couple of weeks I used the 15". Getting better now, but I've learned to be careful. The visual design of the product is so stunning, I'm not sure I'd wish-away those edges for something more beveled; easier on the wrists. But plan to adjust how you hold the machine or what surfaces you place it on. I dropped the keyboard tray of my adjustable work station almost 6". Watch the position of your hands and wrists. Plan to arch your hands and wrists, almost as if playing a piano, rather than just resting them on the machine, unless you have wrists of steel.
AppleCare has a good reputation among my friends with Macs. I hope I don't have to test it, but yes, I bought it.

Just what I was expecting

Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive This laptop is generally excellent. I gave it 4 stars for ease of use because the big trackpad occasionally "slips" the mouse pointer when clicking, although not so much that it is a bother. The new keyboards on the latest Apple laptops are great, with excellent tactile feedback when typing.
I gave the laptop a 4 for weight because it is a little heavier than the prior models. I expect this is due to the glass display. Again, this is not a major issue - I am very happy with my purchase.
Performance is extremely zippy thanks to the high PCI bus speed and loads of RAM. I got the model with the 5200-RPM hard drive, and although I was used to the 7200-RPM drive in my older MacBook Pro I have not noticed any speed issues resulting from the slower RPM.

Pros: solid 5 hour battery life, crystal screen, plenty of cpu power to handle the load Cons: external monitor adapter should be included, glossy screen can be annoying in sunlight
Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive This laptop is exceptional. It runs everything I throw at it with ease. Virtual Machines, multiple open windows, rendering all of it works smoothly.
Currently consolidating three computers into one machine. I highly recommend the adapter for vga monitors so you can run a dual screen setup.
Overall an excellent buy for the money.

Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive The machine is beautiful and pretty easy to use. However, the placement of the USB port on the left side of the machine makes it very difficult for the majority of right-handed people who prefer to use a mouse with their laptop. Placing an additional USB port on the right side of the computer, or on the back, so that both lefties and righties would have equal access, would have been a much better design decision.

Pros: fit & finish, energy consumption, ease of use Cons: mini-video out, do you like reflective screens?
Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive Overall, Apple has the design of laptops down to a fine science. This Mac has superior fit and finish to laptops that I've purchased from other vendors. The new larger touch-pad is a big hit. Software is stable. Not sure why another proprietary mini-video out plug type was necessary.
Question: do like buying the very best in quality & value?
This laptop is for you.

Pros: trackpad, screen, speed Cons: price, no firewire 400
Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive I was hesitant to upgrade from my previous 2 year old MacBook Pro because there wasn't really anything wrong with it, but being the technology junkie that I am I went ahead and bought the new MBP and have been blown away by all aspects of this computer.
The new trackpad and multi-touch gestures are such a huge convenience that that alone is reason enough to get this machine. The screen is so bright and clear. I initially thought I would be bothered by the glossy screen, since matte is not an option, but got used to it right away. The keyboard touch is very nice and the keyboard backlighting is better and brighter than before. The unibody construction really makes a difference in the overall rigidity and solid feel of the laptop. The new magnetic latch is much easier to use when opening and closing the lid. I love having a huge 320 gig hard drive. It's already half full but looks like it will be way more convenient to upgrade/replace in the future since it's accessible when opening the battery compartment.
The one inconvenience was that I had to go out and buy a 400 to 800 Firewire cable to transfer files from my old laptop to my new one. Otherwise, the transfer would've taken 7-8 hours without it. It was a pricey cable but there's no way I could've waited that long. Also, as beautiful as this machine is, I think it should be priced $200-300 lower than it is now.
There's much more and everything feels so fast and light on this computer. I highly recommend everything about it if you can wing it.

Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive I have been waiting awhile to upgrade my notebook. My last notebook was a powerbook g4. I really liked the magnetic latch on the macbooks and was waiting for that to be applied to the macbook pros. After only about 3 years of waiting, it finally happened.

Reviews & Ratings for MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core 2 Duo/2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/SuperDrive The new MacBook Pro blows away the competition in many ways.
The new unibody enclosure needs to be seen and felt to be believed - pictures truly do not do it justice. So rigid, but thin and relatively light. Great stuff!
The screen is glossy, which can every once in awhile be a pain with reflections, but it's usually not that hard to reposition the screen to minimize them. And the black levels are amazing with the glossy screen.
Performance is top notch - the processor is strong, and the graphics are great - even the integrated Nvidia chip is impressive, and of course you can switch to the discrete card for even more power.
The clickable trackpad is unusual but easy to get used to, and the many 'gestures' really are surprisingly useful.
Runs Windows like a dream, of course, but why would you want to when OS X screams? I guess the battery life could be a bit better, but it still lasts many hours between charges.
Hard to fault this machine!
