Reviews & Ratings for Blu Ray Disc Player I ordered the Sony Blu Ray Disc Player BDP-S550 from PC Connections. First, let me complement them for outstanding, prompt service. I ordered the machine online, received and order confirmation and shipping confirmation the same day. The player arrived a day earlier then specified, which was a very nice surprise when I arrived home from work.
The player itself, like all DVD players, was a breeze to install by simply hooking up the power and HDMI cables. No other setup was required and no cumbersome menu adjustments needed. The DVD player is installed to my 52” Sony Bravia 1080P LCD. I did not have any Blu Ray movies at the time, so I installed a standard definition Pirates of the Caribbean Movie. All I can say is WOW. The picture quality was amazing with the upscaling to 1080P. I was really surprised. Next I put in an animated movie for the kids, Horton Hears a Who, which again simply amazed me as to the clarity of the picture. The following day I purchased the Dark Knight on Blu Ray, and not only was the picture quality amazing, but the sound as well. This was well worth the money and I can not recommend this unit enough. The only con I would mention which I believe is the case with all Blu Ray players is the load time. Takes maybe 30-45 seconds before you move into the standard previews, etc.
