D60 Digital SLR Outfit w/ 18-55mm VR Zoom Lens
Nikon's high-performance, 10.2-megapixel DX-format CCD imaging sensor and exclusive EXPEED image processing concept provide added cropping freedom and the ability to make larger prints. With fast startup and split-second shutter response, the D60 eliminates the frustration of shutter delay, capturing moments that other cameras miss. Capture sports action, precious moments and fleeting expressions at up to 3 frames per second, for as many as 100 consecutive JPEG images. Nikon's Active Dust Reduction System activates automatically, along with Airflow Control technology to reduce the amount of dust that reaches the sensor. Intuitive controls and an onboard HELP Menu System with Assist Images make the D60 truly easy to use, enabling everyone to capture beautiful memories perfectly. Nikon's original digital image processing concept, EXPEED, comprehensively optimizes pictures, shot after shot. Eight Digital Vari-Program Modes include: Auto, Auto Flash-OFF, Portrait, Landscape, Child, Sports, Close Up and Night Portrait; each of which adjusts automatically for optimal results for everyday shooting situations. Each mode considers lighting conditions and possibilities, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, hue, tone, sharpening and more to make creative photography as simple as rotating the mode dial. Beautifully styled, the D60 makes high-performance digital SLR photography easier and more convenient than ever. You'll be amazed at the power packed into a camera that weighs just over 16 ounces. Playback images are easy to see and function menus are easier to use with a larger and brighter color LCD monitor. The large 2.5-inch LCD monitor enables image preview at up to 19 times magnification and has large type fonts with easy-to-view menus. Auto rotating LCD display provides automatic horizontal and vertical graphic display orientation. The D60's Assist Images help you select the appropriate settings for many camera features by showing an example image typical of that setting, as well as an advanced HELP Menu for the current item selected. The D60's Question Mark icon (?) indicates that help is available for the currently selected item; just press the HELP button beside the LCD monitor to see a context-sensitive HELP page. The D60's 3D Color Matrix Metering II evaluates each scene for brightness, color, contrast, size and position of shadows and highlights, selected focus area and camera-to-subject distance, comparing that information against an onboard database of more than 30,000 actual photographic scenes. The result delivers instantly and precisely determined exposures for each scene, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Includes AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR (Vibration Reduction) Image Stabilization Lens. NIKKOR lenses are famous for breathtaking sharpness and faithful color. With Nikon's fast, accurate autofocus and Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization technology built in, pictures are even sharper, free from blur caused by camera shake when shooting hand-held. * 1 Megabyte (MB) = 1,000,000 bytes; 1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1,000,000,000 bytes; MP = MegaPixels

Pros: steady pictures great focus easy to read, lcd and functions Cons: it was the motor in the lens but most mfr, are coming around and putting the motors in the, lens.
Reviews & Ratings for D60 Digital SLR Outfit w/ 18-55mm VR Zoom Lens My wife and I have pondered about spending a lot of money for a camera. We had a Canon point and shot for years. But our son just turned 4 and we wanted something that would grow with us. I spent countless hours online reading reviews such as the one I am now writing. We purchased this camera and it has lived up to its name and reviews!!! The camera is easier to use than the Canon. I know that the difference with Nikon and other SLR's is that the motor for automatic focus is in the lens itself. Other SLR cameras have the auto focus motor in the body, which makes them heavy. Also, the VR in the nikon works great. We have found that to be the case when we are bouncing around the home trying to get the best shot of our son.

Reviews & Ratings for D60 Digital SLR Outfit w/ 18-55mm VR Zoom Lens I received this camera as a birthday gift back in May 2008. In the past 9 months, I've taken 2000+ pictures to the point that I just had to start emptying the 8GB SDHC card.
The camera does a phenomenal job of taking pictures "on the fly". With it's default Auto mode (metering) and auto focus lens, you can literally take a picture in under 5-seconds including the time taking it from the camera bag. It powers on in about a second, auto focuses in a second, and the shutter feels and responds just like a 35mm SLR.
The color and clarity of the shots is excellent. Even though the review screen is small (2.5"), you can get a feel for focus and blur after the picture is taken. The zoom controls make it easy to review the finest details even after the picture is taken.
For the advanced photographer, the front- and rear-curtain flash effects are beautiful. I have gotten amazing pictures of family members against a sunset that are unbelievable. There is even a unique feature called D-Lighting that can be applied to an already-taken picture in the camera that will "lighten" the shadowed areas of a picture almost as if done in a darkroom.
For dark settings such as stage performances, I've found the "Hi1" (3200 equiv. ISO) to be a great feature. Surprisingly, the noise level is not very noticeable when setting the camera in this mode. Even the "blur" of low light shots mimics a 35mm film SLR identically for true "motion" effects.
Finally, the battery performance is incredible. In the time I've had the camera, I've only recharged the battery 4 times for the thousands of shots I've taken. This includes leaving it on in the bag for a few long stretches of time without realizing it.
It's got many other numerous features including the auto-image rotation and auto-rotation of the tools menu of what you would expect to find on a higher end camera. The Nikon D60 is an exceptional value.
The only things I would change about the camera are: 1) add on-screen shooting (although I can fully appreciate the traditional view finder approach), 2) easier access to exposure controls for changing light levels, and 3) more lens options including adapters for older and other models of SLR camera. Other than that, it is a amateur/professional photographer's dream.
Final note: even though it will hold any SDHC card, I would stick with 8GB. A full card takes a while to download to your PC. ;-) Enjoy!

One of the BEST camera

Reviews & Ratings for D60 Digital SLR Outfit w/ 18-55mm VR Zoom Lens I bought this camera in Dec 2008 and I really love it. The tone, color of the images are excellent. The battery is not to mention that after taking 300 images, it still shows 3/4 power left.
I have the 18-55mm but I also bought the 55-200mm lense, however, I think I should buy only one lense 18-105mm - this is good enough instead of 2 lenses.
Overall, I think this is one of the BEST camera. The Nikon D80 & D90 is too big and heavy and the pictures are the same as D60.
This camera is at the right weight so you will not feel it is a burden when carry in your hand for a long period of time.
The CMOS is not actually better than the CCD camera. The images may be a little brighter, however, the colors and the tone of the images may not be passing this one.
I have done research & compare prices for many carmeras and spend many days reading stuffs before buying this one.
- The only thing I did not like about this camera because it does not have the live LCD display when taking pictures (you can only view after the images are taken). Everything images taken, must be see through the View Finder.
- Only Nikon D90 has the live LCD view, however, it is expensive and big and heavy.
Recommended.

Pros: easy and fun, not expensive, great battery Cons: not a cmos sensor
Reviews & Ratings for D60 Digital SLR Outfit w/ 18-55mm VR Zoom Lens but if you know your slr (like i pretend i know my slr) then this one is a little simplistic for you. i mean when i saw all the little add-ons like 'sepia' and 'monochrome' as things you can do in the camera, i was put off since i don't want to do something like that in a 3" screen....rather use my monitor. works well, pretty fast, and movie mode is fun, but cmos sensor or other cameras better than this ccs (i think it's called) sensor.
