Connect your DSL or cable modem to the AirPort Extreme Base Station, then quickly set it up with the easy-to-use AirPort Utility, which is available for both Mac OS X and Windows. Within minutes, you and up to 50 others can use your Macs or PCs to surf the web, stream video, share photos, and more without wires.
AirPort Extreme uses next-generation 802.11n wireless technology and features multiple antennas to deliver maximum speed and range throughout your home, classroom, or small office. You can enjoy up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of 802.11g wireless networks.
Have several computers in your home or office but only one printer? No problem. Just connect a printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station and the printer instantly becomes available to everyone on your wireless or wired network.
Now you can share an external USB hard drive over your wireless and wired network by simply connecting it to the USB port on your AirPort Extreme Base Station. Called AirPort Disk, it's perfect for sharing files, making backups, and more. You can even connect multiple drives and printers using a USB hub (sold separately). Rest easy AirPort Extreme takes strong measures to prevent unauthorized intrusion into your wireless network. It offers a built-in firewall and supports industry-standard encryption technologies including WPA/WPA2 and 128-bit WEP. After running routers from other mfg's I can clearly say the apple airport lives up to it's name. The performance gain on my wireless speed was tremendous. on a good day before I ran 36mb, now I typically exceed 100mb, plus the ease of setup for WPA encryption is amazing as that is the most secure out there currently. I highly recommed using this in Apple/windows environments.

Reviews & Ratings for AirPort Extreme Base Station, Gigabit Ethernet I recently purchased this Extreme Base Station to replace an 5 yr old Lynks that would not let more that 1-2 people surf at the same time. This base was not too difficult to set up and works wonderful. We are running one Mac and 5 PCs on this base and no one has been ditched off. Highly recommend over the other brands no matter the make of your computer. Tried and returned to another store one of the other brands. Apple has wonderful tech support to back the product and at convenient times.

The set up was easy for both a mac and a pc onthe same network. The signal strength and connections speeds are both greater than the Belkin network this replaces. The colored flashing lights do not match up with the directions, but does not seem to be a problem. Excellent product.
